How this ingenious amendment to the British welfare system has eluded parliament for over half a century is but a mystery.

Pasty taxes and BMI based benefits...nobody could deny this government is onto something!

Fat people should be in a higher tax bracket.

They could look at slimming down a few nurses! When I was a lad every Nitty Nora had big tits and a big kench to match!!

Obesity is one of the many issues the government and media sets out to demonise and exaggerate with manipulated statistics.

Just look at Britain's Fattest Teenager that it 'cost the taxpayer £100,000' to get from her home to hospital. Ye, what's that - the paramedics' combined salaries?

not everyone can help being fat. some people are fat yet very healthy. i don't agree with this.

Can you give us one or two examples?

there are several people at my gym who are very chubby but can run for ages on the treadmill at a decent pace.

Also it can be unhealthy for a small slim man if his woman is a huge fat wobbler and she rolls onto him in bed and dies on him and he suffocates as has happened in the past.

Fat people hold you up in town centre's on saturday, then there's plane seats and they tend to smell bad, they sweat a lot in summer, and fuck your luck if one falls out of a window as you are walking past.

You could always imagine it was a giant Partridge and despatch it with your Purdey.

Had a fat kid at school and the PE teacher who was the usual sadist would give him until the count of 5 to run and reach this yellow line in the gym if he made it he escaped the medicine ball thrown at his back. He never made it and one day the ball hit the back of his head and ko'd him also smashed his teeth on the floor and broke his nose.

People can be obese yet physically healthy and fit and at no greater risk of heart disease or cancer than normal weight people, say researchers.

The key is being "metabolically fit", meaning no high blood pressure, cholesterol or raised blood sugar, and exercising, according to experts.

Looking at data from over 43,000 US people they found that being overweight per se did not pose a big health risk.

The results are published in the European Heart Journal.

In the study at the University of South Carolina, more than a third of the participants were obese.

Of these 18,500, half were assessed as metabolically healthy after a physical examination and lab tests.

This subset of metabolically healthy obese people who did not suffer from conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure, were generally fitter and exercised more than the other obese people.

And their risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease or cancer was identical to people of ideal weight and was half that of "metabolically less fit" obese people.
