bwfc71 wrote:Date night on Friday night  - so stayed in Manchester and other half met us.  started off at Dockyard for a couple of pints of Dockyards own IPA (brewed in Radcliffe) for myself and San Miguel for Kav, then went to The Lawn Club/The Club House for a pint of San Miguel each and then off to The Old Nags for a pint of Black Sheep each and then to Waterhouse for another pint of San Miguel each and then ended at Mayfield (Piccadilly station) for a pint of lager (don't know what as Kav bought it) - home early but had a couple of IPA's bought from Asda night before.
Although the Nag's Head is full of stuff on Georgie Best and a great pub on matchdays if you are a Utd fan, do you not think the pub smells a bit and it's a bit of a dive?

Not too well up on Mcr pubs and bars but never been to the Lawn Club, Dockyard (I think) or the Mayfield but Waterhouse isn't too bad.

I quite like the Sawyers Arms.

Do you never go in there?

Not been in Sawyers for years - so need to visit again to see what its like.

I agree about Nags Head - just had the one and then left.  It has never been the same since the new landlord took over and pained over the old mural which was a USP for the bar!

Went in the Rising Sun (opposite Nags Head) a few weeks ago and that has totally changed since I last went in - all very modern but still has the charm and a couple of decent beers.  Also been in Town Hall Tavern a few weeks ago as well and that's basically an Irish pub in all but name, definitely not the same as it used to be and prices gone through the roof

Wasn't the Sawyers Arms in Manchester known as a gay pub? That and the Rembrandt iirc.

Rembrandt is definitely a gay pub, and still is, but not too sure about Sawyers!

Sawyers is definitely not a gay pub, we go in there when we go in town but our favourite is Mulligans, a proper Irish pub

I'm glad you have stated that it's not a gay pub or else I would have more pet names added to the list on here that people already have of me! Very Happy

Mulligans used to be good but in last 12 months is has gone off the boil a little as most staff disappeared to work in Town Hall Tavern!

Chris, as you are only a part timer on Nuts these days you may not have realised that you had a 'visitor' whilst you were away.

I post the thread up for your right of reply if you wish to - don't feel you do have to though.

Cheers, Sluffy, but not going to comment.

Just looks like the ramblings of one of the many pseudnoyms of idiots on the BN site.

Just ignore and they will either go away or show their true colours that they will have to be banned.  Like many others (Upton under various names) have done.  Most of information, which you knew about, were found on BA and rest is just made up.
