How the heck have Burnley been so rubbish since the were relegated when you had Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Austin up front? That is dangerous.

Is it true, that Austin has failed his medical at Hull? If so, this doesn't bode too well for Burnley.Copper Dragon wrote:Signed for Hull for around £4.5 million.
At least he'll get 'one' season in the Premier League.

Guess the fans would be happy as he will still score goals, without him they may go down?Culcheth_White wrote:Is it true, that Austin has failed his medical at Hull? If so, this doesn't bode too well for Burnley.Copper Dragon wrote:Signed for Hull for around £4.5 million.

I know, I meant from a financial point of view. Burnley valued him at around £7 million, now he's apparently failed a medical at Hull, where a price of around £4.5 million was agreed. Austin is out of contract at the end of this coming season and Burnley can't afford to lose millions on Austin.Triumph wrote:Guess the fans would be happy as he will still score goals, without him they may go down?Culcheth_White wrote:Is it true, that Austin has failed his medical at Hull? Charlie Austin's move from Burnley to Premier League new boys Hull City is off after the striker failed a medical.
Hull boss Steve Bruce has made Austin one of his top transfer targets this summer and has been chasing him for several weeks.
A fee had been agreed between the two clubs but Austin has now failed his medical, with his shoulder - which he has dislocated three times since 2010 - reportedly the issue.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the country since being plucked from non-league football by Swindon four years ago, scoring 82 goals in 155 games for Swindon and Burnley.
Asked if the deal had collapsed, Bruce told talkSPORT: "Unfortunately, it looks like it.
"There has been a bit of a problem with his medical, which is the worst scenario for everybody concerned, and more so the boy.
"It's an awful, awful, awful situation to find ourselves in, but unfortunately the medical is not great, so it looks as if it is a non-starter at the moment.
"I think he is surprised because he has not really missed any games over the last couple of years.
"It is a blow for him and it's a blow for us, but there you go. These medicals are so stringent, things have progressed with scans and all the rest of it and obviously he has got a problem."
In a statement Burnley said: "Charlie Austin will not be joining Hull City after unforeseen complications halted a proposed move to the KC Stadium.
"Austin, 24, remains a Burnley player and the club will make no further comment at his time."
Austin has just 12 months remaining on his current deal and, with no indication that he will sign a new deal, Burnley had been forced to try to cash in on him.
The collapse of the transfer has provided Bruce with further frustration in his efforts to add extra firepower to his squad following Hull's promotion to the top flight and he has previously seen a bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper rejected.
The likes of Swansea's Luke Moore, West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie and South African forward Katlego Mphela have also been linked with moves to the KC Stadium.
The Tigers have so far signed Maynor Figueroa, Curtis Davies and Allan McGregor in addition to securing permanent deals for George Boyd and Ahmed Elmohamady.

A new contract has been on the table for about a month now, so he'd be a fool not to sign it and prove Hull wrong by scoring another shed full of goals.
His shoulder injury happened around 19 months ago and he's scored 30 odd goals in that time. We all know that a shoulder is never the same after a dislocation.
We've just to hope that no other Premier League club try it on with lower bids now, then again Bruce has virtually told the world that Austin is a crock.
It's strange because they signed George Boyd and he's blind.

It's a big blow for Burnley, I've just read that Burnley had players already lined up with the proceeds from the Austin sale.Copper Dragon wrote:Culcheth_White wrote:Is it true, that Austin has failed his medical at Hull? The only way that it's a blow is the money we won't be getting.
The players that we will be looking at will be freebies and John Banaszkiewicz (co-chairman) said that the Austin deal had no bearing on bringing players in.

"It's strange because they signed George Boyd and he's blind"...
Boyd George was only blind at Forest, but he was fine at Posh. Widely believed to be a ploy to reduce the asking price/salary. Maybe that's what Hull are trying on?
I wouldn't pay any attention to John Bananaskinz though - he couldn't really say anything else under the circumstances.

On Sky just now:
Charlie Austin could still have a future with Burnley, despite his move to Hull City collapsing as a result of a failed medical. Burnley boss Sean Dyche has said: "From my point of view as manager you can imagine I'm not too disappointed to have a 28-goal centre forward in the fold.”
