More rubbish from Shittum Towers! Gone off UKIP have we?Natasha Whittam wrote:The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) thinks the second quarter, starting in April, will see GDP exceed the level seen at the start of 2008. It also claims businesses across the UK are expanding and creating jobs.
And who do we have to thank for this? The Tories of course. If they hadn't taken the hard stance that they did with their unpopular cuts, we'd still be in recession and unemployment would be above 3 million.
Imagine if you bellends had voted Labour back in at the last election, the country would probably be bankrupt by now and 50% of this site would be unemployed.
Slag the Tories off all you like, but it's down to them that the country is heading towards a prosperous future. However, there's no doubt that some of you idiots will still vote Labour at the next election just because your Grandad did 40 years ago.
Grow a pair and think for yourself. The future is blue.

Whittam Towers is as factual as Fawlty Towers!!doffcocker wrote:The number of people that have to work part-time for the reason that they can't find full-time work is higher than its ever been.
This bollocks about unemployment being down is a complete red herring.
I don't doubt Whittam Towers has been a happier household over the last five years, but the same can't be said for the millions that are worse off than they've ever been.

Actually the fact is, when you look back in a few years, the UK was actually coming out of recession before the LibCon coalition came to Government.
All that Osborne did was send us back into recession (the double dip that took place but manipulated records show we didn't) and extend the misery by 3 years. 3 years of needless cuts and 3 years of creating unemployment!
Al that has happened is that people need t replace goods and have had to buy thus the creation of growth. If that hadn't have been the case then we would still be floundering.
Also, as reported, we are relying too much on the service industry and no others - very easily a catalyst to send us back under once people stop buying again because of the squeeze on wages and the continuing rise in living costs!
I m not a Labour supporter as they did too much craziness under Cheshire-Cat-War-Mongering Blair and Fat-Boy-Sold-The-Gold-Cheap Brown, and whilst Clegg is still in charge of the Liberal Democrats I will never consider voting for them and as for UKIP they are a complete joke - you ask any member of theirs whether a person looking to gain a seat or just a humble member (like I did today when someone came round with the pamphlets, and they don't know their own policies apart from "wanting" to get the UK out of the EU - which is not enough for any sensible person to vote for them!!!!
As it currently stand British politics is brain dead and needs a party to revolutionise politics to get people interested again and to get people voting for them again, and not just because of one policy!

Who are you, Nick Robinson?
Just accept the fact that life is better under the Tories. You don't have to like them, but if Labour were in charge we'd probably be at war with Russia, have 3 million unemployed, and there would be a tax on butlers and maids.

Actually it is Andrew Marr!!!
It definitely is not better. Too many people on zero contracts with less than 12 hours a week work which takes them off the official unemployment list. There are far too many people of part-time work which, again takes them off the official unemployment list. They have raised the school leaving age to 17 this year and 18 next year to reduce the official number of unemployed. In fact the Tories, themselves, through all the cost cutting created 2 million unemployed and took some of them back as specialist contractors thus paying even more!!!!!
There s no evidence to say we would already be at war with Russia - in fact that is probably the only good thing I will say about Fat-boy Brown is that he wasn't a war-mongerer and didn't believe in the conflicts we entered into!!!
Taxes under the Tories have increased for the majority of people whilst those in the tax bracket have had their tax reduced whereas in all other major European and "western" countries it has been raised - yes even in Germany which has a far stronger economy than ours!!!!

This seems to be your perception of Labour voters, Natasha.
This isn't how it is, just like how all Tory voters aren't middle class snobs with no idea what it's like to live on the breadline...

Bread.
As you well know the supplier is just covering his/her own arse for customer indecision.
I've been in engineering over 40 years and if you don't tie everything down the customer expects rolls Royce job for the price of a lada!!!!
From an engineering point of view gold is much easier to work with than stainless steel, as you are no doubt aware, despite the fact it's pretty useless apart from decoration.

I know what you're saying, SK but £519+VAT for a stainless sieve about a foot across.....?
I've ordered a 4mm soil sieve off Ebay for £8.52 + Free P&P and I bet it'll do the job just fine.
See, I'm saving money for the company already and I've only been here a week !!

Reading the quote gives the impression it's a bespoke piece of kit. Should have gone straight to ebay first if that suits!!

I made the mistake of asking our on-site fitters if we had any sieves knocking about.
Circular, stainless, 12" diameter, 4mm holes, suitable for grading peannut kibble as a temporary measure for about a week.
The response I got was "We'll sort you one out."
Foolishly, I took this to mean they'd knock one up in the workshop in between fag breaks.
Silly me.
Why drill a few 4mm holes in a Quality Street tin, when you can "out-source" the job to your mate's engineering firm and charge the new gaffer £519 + VAT?
Cards well and truly marked.......

That sounds a reasonable bollocking to me.
Some fitters departed from their brains when they finished their apprenticeships and some love engineering. I know one that loved engineering so much that when he retired his life ended, he missed the banter and the job so much!
I'm very much like him.

My old man's like that.
Time-served at Bolton Power Station in the late 60's, now retired and still strips his gas fire down and gives it a thorough cleaning every three months because he's bored.
I keep telling him his insurers won't pay out if the house blows up because he's not sealed a joint properly but he just gives me a withering stare and shakes his head, before launching into a lecture about "how he's a proper engineer and knows what he's bloody doing...."
