CYL isn't going to stay. Neither will Heskey, Eidur, Spearing, Mills or any other bugger out of contract because we aren't paying out the fancy money any more or at least not to the ridiculous tune that made us the laughing stock of football and landed us in £165 million of debt.
Unless there is a seismic shift in the finances e.g. a buy out or a death in the family it is perfectly reasonable to assume that we will be in the market for average championship players or ex-stars with something to prove - as we are now.
But to compete for promotion we would need a lot more than that - or a better manager.
It's unlikely we'll get the money to buy the players needed but a better manager like Warburton who can achieve success with average players and a wafer thin squad is always a possibility albeit unlikely. Problem is the good managers are all taken and Warburton is likely to pass straight through this division from League 1 to the Premiership so wouldn't be interested.
Lennon is doing fine overall despite the recent blip before the Owls game, but we've not had the same success as e.g. Brentford and Lennon is tipped to be off in the summer if we do OK this term. Maybe we'll get someone better to lead us to promotion.
