A swan having a kip in the road is coned off by the police. An officer later wrapped it in his jacket and removed it from the road.
The incident took place in Bath,so manda might know more about it.
The black swan is the queens, Scott.

I saw that. I noticed they were not proper cops but the mobile scarecrow variety. What started out as an idea by Dave Blunkett has totally morphed into a way for the Government to save money. You can't tell the real coppers from the PCSO's these days.

You can in my area. The PCSO's tart about on push bikes and hang about outside the local shop and chippy. They're just yobs in uniform.

A lot of them are now driving police cars especially in Greater Manchester. It's all about giving the impression that there are loads of coppers on the streets. Smoke and mirrors to disguise the fact that it is just policing on the cheap.

This was front page news round my manor. The PCSOs are now local heroes, and call themselves the hot fuzz squad. Today there was a follow up about how one copper got pecked, but the other had to change his trousers after the incident. It's tough on the mean streets of Bath

Same near us apart from the yob bit.
One looks like Frank Spencer and the other has a distinct air of Dick Emery about him.
And they actually had their bikes nicked by the local youths not long ago.......

They just seem to be with the kids a lot. I'm not sure if they're trying to suss them out or feel like they're 'down with the kids'. I reckon they are confiscating drugs and keeping them for themselves.Breadman wrote:Bwfc1958 wrote:You can in my area. Plenty of them in Birchwood these days, due in part to the Hillsborough inquests being held here.
Just for show.

It's an insult to the intelligence of rate payers all over the country. Some forces have even started deploying PCSO's outside nightclubs in busy town centres to fly the flag. As far as I am concerned it's a bloody disgrace. The ratepayers are entitled to a proper level of policing and using mobile scarecrows to cover the shortfall in policing numbers is nothing short of scandalous.

Without substantially increasing taxes "copper lite" the only option other than having zero presence, which doesn't appeal to most people. Obviously it's only natural to want more for less.
"A proper level of policing" (by my definition) hasn't been seen on the streets in living memory but my concern is that the PCSO option is just one step away from allowing residents to take policing matters into their own hands - which some of my heavily armed neighbours would relish.

I'm sick of being told to grow a tash for 'Movember'.
Some Z list celebrities and footballers do it,so I've got to join in?
Well they can piss off.
Why can't we just give to charity without growing facial hair, dousing ourselves in ice water,or sitting in a bath full of beans for 24 hours?
"Look at me,look at me,I'm an idiot".

Keep getting emails asking me to consider laser eye surgery.
As far as I'm concerned,I'm quite happy with my specs, and I'm told it's not guaranteed to work,so why take a chance.
Anyone on here had it done?
