Anyway...back in the real world.
Scrabble on BBC1 with Alan Yentob. I think I have probably watched this before (when it was on BBC4 and I was drunk) but I'm watching it again and it's a brilliant insight into the world of Scrabble players everywhere.
I played Scrabble as a kid and I think it's played a big part in my love of the English language which endures to this day.
Apparently Scrabble's massive in Nigeria for some reason (Jay Jay Okocha nets you 52 points without triple word scores and shit, by the way), so perhaps Brother Dar can enlighten us as to its grip on his home nation - who knows?
I've just ordered a set off Ebay and Mrs B is going to enjoy a wordy Christmas, whether she likes it or not.
Fo' shizzle!

On a serious note, I do love Scrabble.
It's not just about the long scoring words though, you have to play tactics to get those triple word scores dotted around the edges.

I've got Scrabble Deluxe. So there.
It pays to know your 2 letter words.

We could do with a new Scrabble set, the one we have used to be my mums and it's from the early 80's where you can tell it has been well used where the box is tatty and the corners have split on the top but the board is still in good nick and no missing squares.
Never seem to get round to buying a new one, don't see the point yet.
