He has a helluva good story though. Everyone has guns in their homes in SA - even my 80 year old Auntie - and a man with no legs would be pretty crap in a fight without one so I don't question the shooting. It all comes down to who he believes he was shooting. Burglary paranoia is very high amongst Springboks - rightfully so - so I'm thinking that his story is likely to be credible to the court. 
If you wanted to bump off your girlfriend and hadn't got the wherewithal to undertake an elaborate cover up, this would be a pretty good way to do it.

Oscar, then get's his cricket bat and try's to knock the door down, there is no scream or sound from his girlfriend, so he presumes it's a burglar and then he goes and get's his gun and pumps 4 shots into the bathroom door?

Result! He's slotted his girlfriend, because they had a row and she "legged" it into the bathroom, because Oscar the hothead lost his temper. He tried to smash the door down first of all, with his cricket bat and then that didn't work, so he blasted the door with his gun 4 times and splatted her head like a melon.

This case has OJ Simpson written all over it, just hope I'm wrong!

Why did she lock the bathroom door? If we are to believe that they were both asleep in bed then it doesn't make any sense. If she woke up in the night for a tinkle then she might have shut the bathroom door but she had no reason to lock it.

This would have helped.....
