I freely admit that I am a pedant.

I'm not ashamed of it, I've always been this way and I'm too old to change now.

(No, Magoo, I don't like looking at kiddy porn, it means something else.)

When I hear someone say:"Well, the proof will be in the pudding" I get this terrible urge to punch them.

Because it's wrong.

I have also been politely asked to leave more than one cafe in the past for altering their chalkboard signage to remove superfluous commas.

"Assorted Cake's - £1.99!"

"All Breakfast's served with free Tea's or Coffee's!"

Is anyone else on here in the Pedant Club or is it just me?

(And anybody who points out that there should be an accent over the "e" in the word cafe above gets a slap - I can't do accents on my keyboard, so lump it.)

Embrace it, Hippy, don't fear it.

People will respect you for being knowledgeable and the birds will love it.

You'll be beating them off with a shitty stick soon.

I let common folk get away with it as it's rarely their fault they had a poor education. Johnny is a good example.

But if I see a spelling mistake or grammatical error in anything deemed "professional" like a newspaper advert, restaurant menu, signage, brochure etc it makes me angry.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that have good jobs that haven't grasped the English language. I always do a test before employing anyone.
