Great move by Gartside, telling Sam the bad news before a huge game like that, he might well as just said' Sam, i shagged your wife last night'.

Nat they were at their peak when Big Sam left and for the couple of years before he left, can you not read either?
SKD was 29, he didn't play for England till he was 34/35, Jussi was only 31 and isn't that considered the best age for keepers - 30+? Faye went to Newcastle and Stoke after us and was Stoke's player of the year 2 years running.

SKd earnt an England call up in 2010 so that's bollocks.
Faye probably played his best football for Stoke, so again that's bollocks.
Jussi was subjected to some of the worst defending the Prem has ever seen after Sam left, but was still quality and regularly linked to top 4 sides.

Sam left us a bag of shite, Vaz Te was our best player and the rest were old men ready to collect their pension.

You're wasting yourtime Norpig. Save those fingers for pulling triggers because Nat will never admit she's talking shite, even when it's pointed out in detail.Norpig wrote:Nat they were at their peak when Big Sam left and for the couple of years before he left, can you not read either?

The fact is we missed the boat. There has never been, or never will be another time in the clubs history where we will have a better chance to move onto the top level. With a bit more money thrown at it we could have done great things. The lay out would have been paid back in spades. It was a crucial crossroads for the club and we took the wrong road. And here we are......

Absolute bollocks. It was the time to consolidate and invest in some younger players.
You forget that Allardyce was completely hit and miss in the transfer market. His "hits" were mainly proven players on free transfers who he would pay massive wages. For every Hierro there was a Cid or a Jardel. He'd almost certainly have wasted any money on utter guff.

His track record at West Ham in introducing some quality young foreign imports shows that he has an eye for decent youngsters.

The worst thing for Bolton was letting go of Big Sam, but he went onto bigger and better things, he left a shite squad, but was a dealer in the Transfer Market, he wanted big things at the end of the day, and has done really well for himself.
He'll be the next England Manager.

How could he invest in younger players without money? He might well have bought some quality youngsters if he was backed. If you mean give a chance to those in the youth ranks already at the club I don't think any of themy were as good as the current crop we've got coming through. All the free or cheap players he brought in were well worth the wages we paid. When he was given money he signed Anelka for £8 million who we ended up making a £7 million profit on. Hierro, Okocha, Djorkaeff, Campo, Speed, N'Gotty, Stelios and Davies to name but a few were all great signings. He could have worked wonders with cash to spend.Natasha Whittam wrote:Bwfc1958 wrote:

You are talking like a talking bellend.
Fat Sam had LOADS of cash. Do you think those players came for free? Most of them will have received seven figure signing on fees and wages well above £40k per week.
You named some good players there, but how many were sold at a profit? None of them is the answer, and no football club is sustainable in the long term if the bulk of your team is worthless.
They were good times no doubt, but to say Fat Sam left the club in a decent state is laughable.

Gartside eventually realized this, much much too late, and cut Allardici off. Hence Sam's 'no ambition' comments.
Sam found a way to play at the top end of the table, and however unsustainable, you can't blame him for operating this way. Gartside, and possibly Davies, sanctioned every signing and every salary and gave birth to our enormous levels of debt. There is no doubt in my mind who is to blame.
Fat Sam moved on when he knew the fun was over. The culprits are still running us into the ground.
