I don't know the actual stats but I would imagine that the number of black players in the English leagues is disproportionately high compared to the number of black people in the country.

So then, given that a traditional route into management is to have been a professional player, "do your badges" and then get a job in the lower leagues managing somebody shit, you would expect there to be far more black managers in the game.

That's my thinking too, without any first hand experience of being a black man applying for a role in football management it's just speculative. But the statistically low number of black managers compared to black players would indicate something's wrong. So I'd be up for the Rooney rule being introduced to see if it has a similar effect as the NFL.

I think it's really difficult to make a judgement on these things without first hand experience, we may not be racists (most of us anyway) but I think it's naive to suggest it doesn't exist in football. The evidence suggests that black managers aren't getting the same opportunities.
Fair enough I thought it would have been introduced by now as I heard about it ages ago, around the time I started this thread.

I don't see any harm in giving it a go to be fair, if it gets black managers a platform to get more jobs then that's all the powers that be can do to be fair.

Nelson Mandela? Martin Luther King Jr.? Frederick Douglas? Rosa Parks? Oliver Tambo? Malcolm X? Barack Obama?

If you like, I can recommend a few good books.

In the case of the managers who have been sacked, yes.

But the question is actually why more black managers don't get the chance in the first place,

How have you managed to turn this into a race issue?

Given that the thread's called "Another black manager sacked" I reckon it was already pretty much about race to begin with.

This race thing, in this instance, is a red herring, (are we allowed to say 'red').
The managers in question weren't given their posts because of their colour, but of their abilities. They also lost their post, because of their lack of abilities, not their colour.
I think there is some merit in ensuring that there are no barriers in the way of prospective black or minority race, managers, but at the end of the day, do you think its right to allow somebody to manage a multi-million pound team, just because of their colour? Its absurd.
Why specify black people, why not all races, or creed, and not just colour. Oh, just a minute, that's how its run just now, is it not ? Everyone is welcomed, as long as they do the training and 'apprenticeship and don't try to take shortcuts, or use the law to get something they may be incapable of otherwise.
By all means make it fairer, but don't do it for one section of the public, because that wouldn't be fair, would it ?

There is no race issue here. But you and your little sidekick have managed to find a problem

I'm not saying this sacking had anything to do with race he was sacked by Les Ferdinand in part so that's clearly not an issue. The wider topic of black managers in football is what the threads gone into. In don't see what's wrong with debating that.

People play the race card at the drop of a hat. It's fucking boring
