Was about to start a thread about the fact that two black managers have been sacked in the space of a few hours. Is it a coincidence? Well I'd say it is, but I think the likes of Ince and a few desperate journalists will disagree.

Can't wait for the 'Another Ginger Manager Sacked' thread.

The naivety.

There's no Rooney rule in football (only the American kind), the way things are going though I'd expect it to be introduced soon. Particularly given it's success across the pond. I think it's really difficult to make a judgement on these things without first hand experience, we may not be racists (most of us anyway) but I think it's naive to suggest it doesn't exist in football. The evidence suggests that black managers aren't getting the same opportunities.

Football clubs are so desperate for success and the cash it brings they'd employ a chimp to run the club if they thought it could win games.

I think there's a stronger case for discrimination against Italian managers.
There's a fair argument for the dismissal of the three black managers mentioned on the basis of performance and position but e.g. Di Matteo was sacked having just won the Champions League and Di Canio was second in the league when he was forced out of Swindon and having saved Sunderland the previous season was fired after only 5 games of the next. 

I'd say that female managers also get short shrift but....there aren't any.

But how do you both know that? The majority of us are decent non-racist people, doesn't change the fact there are small minded bigoted fools out there. As Hipster says the worrying thing isn't that the black managers who have had a go have been sacked its that the proportion of black coaches to White is wildly off balance, what's stopping more getting into management?

I live in Preston, work in Manchester, go to various places in the week like the gym, couple of restaurants etc and I probably speak to a black person 3 weeks out of 52.

I don't think the black/white ratio in football is any different to normal everyday life.
