It makes sense for all parties to get a deal done and slim down the costs (which is what Trevor was attempting to do) and reduce the monthly loss. You need to pay the remaining debt (selling off assets) and reduce the monthlies (getting the fat cats to leave the payroll) and then you have to start winning a few games to stay up. Feasible solution if, in fact, the purchaser is not broke or a common thief/wiseguy. A quick change-over, pay the tax man, lower the monthly costs and win a few games might just save the club. We are still short a striker who can actually put the ball in the net (overlooked too long but short on cash)... and if we can start getting a few wins, we might just save the season and the future. Who knows what next year would bring, but to keep some young hungry players who want to save the club could make all the difference. We should also cut out the money grubbing agents and only deal with prudent agents... in the States, some teams will never deal with the shady or the notorious agents. Some players here have their brothers or dad's representing them. A take-over is the most sound solution along with dispensing of some of the insane salaries. If I were playing for Bolton and I needed to take a cut or if you worked for a factory going under and needed to take a cut to keep your job... the result would be the same... take the cut and continue working. Well, that time is here and now. Hopefully the players will respond and get us a bunch of points to see us up a few places. Right now we have 5 good candidates for relegation, but no reason not to get a few wins and possibly climb above 2 of them. C'mon Whites!wanderlust wrote:wanderlust wrote:With the chances of a deal being concluded over the weekend being slim, we probably have today and tomorrow for someone to buy the club or I'll have cough up to Bread's charity of choice.
Giving Mavies away on a fee transfer send out all the wrong messages and I'm less confident about avoiding administration then at any time until now.
That said, surely ED and TB must realise that if they don't do a deal the vultures will be able to pick up what's left for a song, so they have to find a workable compromise before Monday don't they?
Just like to clarify I am NOT the source that is being quoted in the article. I was just speculating based on the assumption that pressure to compromise was mounting. Therefore there is a chance there is some truth in this.

A massive part of me wants to believe that Disley isn't involved with Sports Shield and that Holdsworth's lot are the good guys and they will save us.
But.....
I still can't get away from that photo.
It was (from left to right):
Michael Collins - John Disley - Dean Holdsworth.
If he's not involved with Sports Shield, why was he sitting in between the two men who own the company?
Hopefully it's a case of: He approached them, they didn't know he was bent and initially fell for his undoubted charm and spiel.
Only to then discover that he's a twat and fuck him off.
And that's why he then went to this Rodgers bloke.
I honestly, really, really hope that's what happened and I equally really, really hope we're not being duped and Disley is still somewhere involved with SS in the background.
Fingers firmly crossed.

I think Holdsworth would have the clubs best interests at heart, he loves us.

And there's no fooking way ED would sell to any dodgy individuals. Not a chance in hell

Maybe I've been overtaken by events - or misinformed by Iles - but weren't we told that up to now no one had shown the cash to have a look at the clubs accounts - and if money is now on the table could anyone reasonably establish its financial stability from just a 48 hour perusal of them?
I still can't see the logic of anyone wanting to take on the same business model with its fixed overheads of players wages, making it lose something like £15 million until the end of July.
I'm clearly not seeing the full picture here.

reported article seems to suggest the Disley is tying to gazump Sports shield not connive with them.
Not sure there's too much to hive of. Offices and hotel have gone. Car park has gone - only Euxton and the ground to go. Could hive of ground and rent it back suppose.Doubt Lostock training facility would be sold - don't think houses would be allowed there. Know some of the residents - they'd be up in arms.

If the supposed new owners don't have cash of their own, they will have to quickly get rid of players in this transfer window and then unload more fixed assets just to keep the club afloat until the end of the season.
Then they will be faced more than likely with the next season in League 1 and all that means with a reduced earnings ability.
Are we just putting off administration for next Christmas?

Me neither Boggers but all along I've thought that we needed results on the pitch just in case we avoid admin and a new owner steps up - but we haven't got them and on most occasions we haven't deserved them.
If the deal is genuine and if the plan is contingent on staying in the Championship this season, it's a huge vote of confidence for Lennon, but it does beg the question "what needs to change to start winning games?"
And my answer would be the players (can't afford new ones unless the investment is a lot bigger than we think) the system (won't change under Lennon) or our luck. Of those three, our luck improving is our best hope IMO.
