No y2j, Crohn's Disease attacks the bowel and intestine rather than the pancreas. It causes the body to treat the lining of (usually) the bowel as a wound. The lining inflames and closes the tube. Then scar tissue develops which fuses it shut and basically blocks everything. Untreated the bowel will swell and eventually perforate leading to peritonitis and death. It's similar to and may even be related to Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome although it is much more severe than both when fully active in the body.y2johnny wrote:Isnit chrones (sp.) Magoo? Whatever it is i hope you get it sorted.

Detected early Crohn's can be managed by diet and in certain cases by medication but there is no cure or vaccine and doctors still have no real knowledge of why some people are susceptible and others are not. It may be genetic but things ranging from Pasteurised Milk to the MMR vaccination have been named as causes then subsequently dismissed after a proper clinical examination has been carried out.
I know all this because I am one of the 75000 people in England (90K in the entire UK) who suffer from full blown Crohn's. I am also one of the eight percent of sufferers who is allergic to the main control medication sometimes known as Mebeverine. As a result I have undergone three bowel resections in the last twenty years and have to watch my diet extremely carefully. Basically the only food I'm supposed to eat generally has less taste than the box it came in. I cannot drink alcohol because it really irritates the lesions where my operations took place.
Magoo's condition sounds more like an ulcer that has become infected and while I am sure it must be intensely painful for him it seems to me he's got the right meds and if he follows his doctor's advice should make a full recovery soon. I certainly hope so and wish you well Mag.

I find 24 hours very convenient especially with having kids at home and not being able to go until the Mrs is back from work...

luckyPeterpiper wrote:I am thanks johnny. And no you're not dumb. When I was first diagnosed I thought it was named after some Swedish bloke and spent a year spelling Krohne's.
It's one of those illnesses where if you've even heard of it you're ahead of about 90% of the population mate so there you go, you're in the 10% club.
Good stuff Johnny. Keep it up and you'll feel better in no timey2johnny wrote:Well first session done. Feel absolutely knackered which i am sure can only be a good thing.
Did 30 minutes interval training, which covered just short of 3km
A few light high rep weights.
And finished off with 5km on the bike.
Fooked

Stay off the carbs and the weight will drop off but always advisable to make sure you compensate for fibre reduction by taking e.g. Fibogel otherwise it can mess up your guts.
