He's been re-elected with a bigger share of the vote than last time.
From a Tory perspective this is the best thing that could have happened.
Watch now for more blood on the carpet.

As much as i can admire Corbyn as a man, he will never be PM, the Labour Party will implode before long at this rate. He can't bring all the different factions together and the man on the street sees him as too left wing

Right, it's official - Jezza's won the election so can we please stop the infighting and concentrate on re-establishing something like an effective opposition to the Tories now?

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Labour Movement and it'd be a shame to waste it.

Thank you.

Unfortunately it isn't a fantastic opportunity for labour -its exactly the opposite.
It's the kiss of death. They've  de-selected themselves from ever forming a government whilst Jezza is leader. Mark my words- we've just witnessed the demise of Labour as a major political force in this country whilst he's there|!
This is not a victory- it's a tragedy

I know what you're saying, Rammy, but I'm putting a more hopeful spin on it.

The damage to the party was done a long time ago when the people running it decided that it was no longer a true party of the left and actually deleted the word "Socialism" from their lexicon.

Working class voters got forgotten and decided to switch their allegiance to UKIP and it's these voters who need to be re-engaged and brought back into the fold.

And if the PLP unites behind Corbyn, I honestly believe they can do it.

Corbyn's obviously never going to be PM but I do believe he can act as a unifying force within the party, re-establish some core values and get it back into some sort of shape where whoever comes in next (Burnham after the next election probably) stands a chance of pushing on and really challenging the Tories.

He doesn't even know who Ant and Dec are, he's obviously out of touch with real people.

I've never understood what's unelectable about Corbyn myself. People keep repeating it but never substantiate why exactly, it just seems to be an agreed point.

Have to see what happens now anyway, I hope the party backs him and I agree with what Bread says.

It's make up or break up time for the party now.

I'm not a Labour supporter, however, I think Corbyn is a decent, honest, and intelligent man.
Having said that I think he has spent so many years involved in political in-fighting with members of his own party, that he doesn't have the vision, or experience, to see the bigger international picture. I really don't see him as the man to lead the country.

If they don't sort themselves out UKIP may well be the official opposition after the next General Election. Jezza has performed better recently at PMQ, so maybe there is hope for him yet, the country needs an effective and credible opposition.

That's sort of what I was getting at earlier.

It's a line in the sand moment for the Labour Party and they need to decide what they want to be from here on in:

More Tory-Lite shite a la New Labour under Blair or a proper, left wing, effective opposition to the Tories, who themselves have moved further to the right in recent times.

We need proper "Left and Right" politics again in this country because the rise of UKIP needs to be halted and the only way we'll do that is if there's a proper party on the left to provide an alternative.

The Tories will move to the right unopposed no question.

A left wing labour party will not provide a credible alternative to UKIP, not that there needs to be a credible alternative to UKIP as they have no chance of gaining any meaningful power.

What is needed are politicians who actually want to stand up for proper policies and argue a decent case for them, politics is full of egotistical, self serving prima donna's.

Politics is turning into more and more of a popularity contest, the fact that one man like corbyn who has few credible policies can attract a cult like following in momentum is polarising views within labour and the country as a whole and can not be good for the future.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

The other option was Owen Smith. Does anybody actually believe he was a better option than Corbyn? Going off what I've seen and heard from the guy I very much doubt it.

Smith was not right but nobody else had the bottle to run, I think Hillary Benn would have been a good option, however I suspect he bottled it knowing the way the party is set up and given the prevailing wind whoever challenged never really stood a chance.

The bottom line is that Corbyn is not a leader. Even allowing for the heavy media bias it is obvious he will not secure enough popular support to win an election or come anywhere near it. Remember Michael Foot?

And I don't even accept that he is a man of principle. He clearly had no desire to support the Remain campaign and I wouldn't be surprised if he actually voted for Brexit.
