Certainly is at the moment, difficult to imagine how this government could be doing a worse job.

You yourself praised the furlough scheme.

You’re right, I’m wrong they have done that well so far.
But ballsing up the pandemic response has hit hard. Couple that with not delaying Brexit negotiations, despite the known impact the economy, says to me that these right wing nuts are as bad as it could be for this country.
With Boris at the helm, we are fucked for a generation.

I'm not going to argue. I don't blame the government for their original slow response, but ever since it's been shambles after shambles.
This government seem reluctant to tell people what to do, to lay down the law, to follow a path and stick to it. This 2m rule is another thing to dither about. One minute the science says 2m is the way to go, next minute the government are reviewing it simply because it may benefit the economy.

Three whole years since Grenfell and potentially lethal cladding still cloaks many buildings, creating daily anxiety for thousands of people.
I can't think why another enquiry into the issue is considered necessary, but it seems that the most recent debate has come to a halt and the next plan won't materialise until 2022!
This is a fiasco of extraordinary proportions, and, with decisions to be made about the far-right, BLM, Brexit and all the pandemic's consequences, the government are caught in a perfect storm which will require a massive improvement in competence and urgency.
They surely need to seek cross-party co-operation.
The country is becoming increasingly isolated and devoid of a global voice and influence. We need as many allies as we can get, but are in no position to acquire them. Stubborn pride must be jettisoned in favour of facing reality.

I have to question your last comment Okocha. I believe you are giving them too much credit. I don't think its stubborn pride any more, rather an inability to change and adapt. When your clueless, you just can't hide it.

I was right, and you commented wrongly. 'you're' is short for 'you are', and the one I used was 'your' because the original comment was made by you, so belonged to you.okocha wrote:

If you are going to correct me, get it right yourself.

Just noticed a second your, and my apologies, you are you're correct.
I still think it was a petty comment though

My comment followed on from Natasha's perfect set-up and I found it impossible to resist, admittedly twisting Nat's knife in the process. Sos!

Fair play to him for getting involved with all this, seems like a nice fella.okocha wrote:Where should the Marcus Rashford statue go?.......
I did actually see him in a Rileys snooker club in Chorlton last year, he had the most hideous tracksuit on but i won't hold that against him

I think the government were probably looking for an easy way to rescind their rather stupid decision, and Rashfords campaign came at a very opportune time. Having said that, good luck to the guy, he's done well, and in a very sensible and courteous manner. Nice to see.

Having been shamed into a more humane response, Boris immediately ruined any chance he had of improving the Tories' image by declaring that this was a one-off concession that would not be granted next year.
For the relative pittance that it costs, it would have been wise to promise to continue the payment to the most vulnerable children, to do "whatever it takes" and "to wrap a protective arm round their shoulders", as Boris'/Hancock's rhetoric had emphasised. Massive gap between rhetoric and action.
Whoever is advising the government is way out of touch with the public's expectations.....ooh, that's right....it has all the hallmarks of our great role model, Dominic Scummings ......

I can't understand why they are getting the most simple of decisions wrong.
