Because the option as we will and are finding out is too awful to contemplate. I know you’re a leftie but I’d keep my powder dry if I was you because this bunch of clowns will only let you down.karlypants wrote:

I don’t how you have worked out that I’m a leftie as I voted the conservatives the last two times.
I simply vote for who I feel is going to help the country in the best way at the time. I’m not left wing or right wing.
If a party doesn’t due what they say then I will vote for a different party like I have done.

I am a lefty and proud
Labour aren't doing themselves any favours with the winter fuel payment cuts though, that is an error. In general i still think they are doing a decent job, sorting out 14 years of Tory mismanagement will take the whole 5 years to even try and improve things such as the NHS.

To be fair I think it’s a good thing. Look at how much the government will save if they stopped the winter fuel allowance. Plus those who are on pension credit are still getting it so they are protecting the vulnerable.
My grandad got it when he was alive and simply just banked it as he had plenty of money already.
If it is correct that the rumour to be that state pensions are going up by approx £300 per month then why should pensioners need the winter fuel allowance?
I agree that it should be MORE means tested in its current form where people having savings under a certain amount and without extra income qualify?
Who would a millionaire need it for example?

I'm not a Starmer man myself, but the important thing, is that we got rid of the Trumpian minge flaps that have taken a stranglehold on a once proud Conservative Party.Norpig wrote:I am a lefty and proud

Some of the viler Tories, like that arse on a stick, Ann Widdecombe, have gone running into the arms of Reform, and good luck to her.
Such a shame her brain is on holiday while her mouth is working overtime.
I'm not getting stuck into Labour just yet. I'll judge them further down the line.

I wish!
It's reckoned to be about £300 a YEAR. (for those on the old state pension)
About £6 per week.
Whoopy do!
To be fair it is right, in fact I got it and didn't know what it was at first - and like your grandad I just put it in the holiday fund.
Those on pension credit (ie have no other income) should receive it and that seems fair all round to me.
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer...
Wonder if W63 will know what I'm talking about?
Bonce will!

I saw Jeremy Corbyns brother in a video on instagram recently. He went into a cashless Aldi in London and went to buy strawberries with cash and dumped it at the till and walked off out with them!

The state pension is ridiculously low compared to other European states and I’m sick of hearing about the fact we’ve just had a £900 increase this year and £460 next year as if it’s some kind of mega amount. Even at its current level it’s still well below the £11.44 minimum wage level and if you take the national average wage of around £30k even an inflation increased set at 5% gives an increase of £1,500 so since the last time I looked pensioners pay the same amount for food, clothes, rent, rates, fuel and everything else tell me why they’re well off. Ah, but you own your own house so you’re rich really. The fact I’ve worked all my life to pay for it, struggled through recessions, credit crunches, three day weeks and interest rates and mortgage rates approaching 20% means nothing to the myopic of today.
The £300 winter allowance was implemented to assist the elderly and retired through the cold period when they are at home and feel it the most whilst the young are at work keeping warm. It was never intended to be means tested or it would have been when Gordon Brown implemented it but this stupid and inept government who will once again bankrupt this country think they can fool everybody into thinking this is necessary to cover the mythical £20bn black hole that they have suddenly found in the governments finances. It’s pathetic and if you mugs fall for it you’re just as complicit as this jumped up bunch of crooks and liars who’ve succeeded the previous bunch.

Hahaha - you're completely bonkers W63!!!
Why do you believe everything the Conservatives say and nothing Labour does - neither side is correct in what they say all the time.
Why don't you simply do a bit of fact checking before you show your stupidity and complete gullibleness by just believing that the Conservatives are truthful in all they say, all of the time?
You're like a mirror copy of Wanderlust who believes that everything the Tories have ever done was crap!
You're both utter mentalists!!!
The real truth is that no one knows if there is a black hole or not simply because the Conservative government was not transparent and credible with their figures (remember Truss budget that deliberately 'hid' the fact that it wasn't funded - and crashed the economy because of it?).
Please find below a link to a copy of a letter from the government financial watchdog The Office for Budget Responsibility to the Treasury in July of this year (after the election) stating as much and that they will find out what the real state of the economy is and report back in time for the October budget.
The letter strongly suggests there is some sort of blackhole simply based on their concerns with what they've found out about in the Department of Education's potential overspends.
Letter to the Treasury Committee Clerk on the OBR Review of the March 2024 Forecast for Departmental Expenditure Limits- 29 July 2024
So in simple words wait for the October report from OBR at the time of the budget to find out what the real financial position of the economy is.

Sorry to go off topic, but yesterday I popped into our local over seventies club, after being invited in for a coffee. I think the fools hoped to sign me up. What a mistake to make.
Anyway, during my 15 minutes in there, I witnessed some extraordinary arguments, over the strangest of things.
Eric was complaining that it was his turn to lay out the crockery, and Stan had done it instead, without even asking. A woman with a face lift that has left her looking like a melting Barbara Windsor, stepped in to suggest they draw up a rota. This calmed them down a little, but they still seemed upset, and strode off to their respective cronies, for a good moan.
There appears to be a gang culture in situ, and I'm not sure I'd fit in.
It got me to wondering what a Nuts club would look like if we could all pop in for a coffee and a chat.
I reckon all police leave would be cancelled.
