Walcott, jagielka and Sturridge will never be international class. We need to get jones or smalling in at centreback alongside cahill. Even Cahill doesn't convince me

Hart, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Terry, Cole.
The "golden generation" circa 1996.
Rio will 'come out of retirement' as well remember...

We very very luck to get anything out of this. Maybe it will do us good heading into the world cup as not one of the favourites, because we really shouldn't be.

We're not going to win anything anytime soon, so I really don't understand Hodgson's mentality of setting up that defensive against a Brazil team who are poor defensively in a friendly.
We aren't going to win a tournament so at least entertain us, when he went more attacking we did a bit better and had he set up like that from the start we'd have at least carried a threat first half. With England I'd rather lose in style than sit around drawing games and hanging on, he needs to put more faith in the little talent we have, get the likes of Zaha and the Ox starting every time at least then when it gets round to a world cup we have a side thats gelled and capable of creating chances.

Jagielka is probably our best center back at the moment, Im not convinced by any of them either at the moment, but until Jones plays regularly at center back and Smalling stops getting injured I'd put my faith in Jagielka and Cahill.
Sturridge has started well at Liverpool if he continues that form next season you can't argue with him starting, who are the other options? I'd take Sturridge over Defoe, I think he contribute more.

I like the last selection. He has done a decent job at Southampton. If he was at City, united or Chelsea he would make the squad quite comfortably.

These last two friendlies should have been used to try out players like Rodders and even his club team mate Jack Cork.
I can never understand playing the same old guard in nothing games. Try the young lads out and see how they get on.

Completely agree, we get to major tournaments and moan about the same tired players producing shit performances. Then we tend to get the odd cameo from a young kid who looks hungry, play Rodwell, Zaha, Chamberlain etc in every friendly we have until the world cup and watch them develop an understanding and improve with the experience. Every England manager makes the same mistakes IMO.

It was just a rushed team really.
You can put Wilshere in there if you want, but for who?

Jack cork couldn't even get in Ireland's midfield.

I wonder if Gerrard and Liverpool's midfield or Barry and Man City's midfield would say the same thing after he starred against both last season.

Maybe it's Ronald Biggs kid with the Bolton flag. Does anybody remember the picture of him in his bar in Rio wearing a Bolton shirt?
