If there is any substance to the rumour of the bid I wish they would get on with it and put us out of our misery so that we can move on. Rovers have financial problems at the moment and we know it. Now is the time to test their resolve!

We are joint 2nd favourites for promotion already without Rhodes. Rhodes would see us as his ticket to the premiership - that's why he'd join.

Iles at in again.. but less certain it won't happen...
Still not conclusive either way.

Austin move looks like it might not happen
Might be worth a £5m bid in that direction instead

This morning on Sky:
Jordan Rhodes has been linked with a move away from Blackburn Rovers during the summer transfer window, but the prolific Scotland international has told Sky Sports News he is happy at Ewood Park.
"I’m very settled. I enjoyed a good year last year and everyone was fantastic with me. As long as I’m welcome, I’m a Blackburn Rovers player."

Sound familiar? There is hope, but the player has to want to move.
"Blackburn Rovers have tabled an improved offer for Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes.
Blackburn's initial offer still remains at just £2 Million with added sell on incentive and an add on should they secure promotion this season, the rest is as you were with another £2 Million based on appearances and goals bringing the total value of the proposed deal to £4 Million.
Huddersfield Town have no intention of selling to a divisional rival and the bids made so far have been classed as derisory and are no where near to matching Town's valuation of the hot shot.
Chairman Dean Hoyle, who still remembers the Marcus Stewart sale to then divisional promotion rivals Ipswich Town, is under no pressure to sell the Terriers prize asset.
It has also been stated by the club that should Jordan move on it would be to a higher division club only.
Perhaps Steve Kean will get the message, rumours are he is now offering £3.50 for Olympic Gold Medalist Mo Farah!
Just in-case he is reading this NO means NO"

Blackburn have just signed DJ Campbell and today they are reported to be one of several clubs chasing Luke Moore. Would they be on the look out for strikers if there wasn't a prospect of them losing one?

Papers are reporting that Swansea are attempting to buy Rhodes. If that's the case then any hopes we have of getting him must go up in smoke.
QPR are trying to get Gary Hooper from Celtic for £4m. That might be an attractive alternative.

Gary Hooper has been at the centre of a bidding war with Norwich in particular chasing him so there's no chance of a bargain there either. Hull, Reading, Southampton have all had a go but he's likely to stay at the Hoops to play Champions League again.
Honestly think we need to spread our net much further afield if we are going to buy an affordable top striker unless Dougie can work some magic in the British market.

Sky Sports understands Hull City are closing in on the signing of Burnley striker Charlie Austin.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a leading target for Steve Bruce as the Hull boss continues to build a squad for a season in the Premier League.
Austin only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Burnley and it is understood that the two clubs are on the brink of agreeing a fee.
The former Swindon forward is then set to hold talks with the Tigers after previously being linked with the likes of Celtic and Southampton.
He has scored 45 goals for Burnley since his 2011 move from Swindon and he netted 28 times for the Clarets last season.
Bruce has been in the market for extra firepower following Hull's promotion to the top flight and has already seen a bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper rejected.
The likes of Swansea's Luke Moore, West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie and South African forward Katlego Mphela have also been linked with moves to the KC Stadium.
The Tigers have so far signed Maynor Figueroa, Curtis Davies and Allan McGregor in addition to securing permanent deals for George Boyd and Ahmed Elmohamady.
So if Hull get Austin maybe that opens the door to get someone like Katlego Mphela who looked good for S Africa and would be affordable - although I'd prefer someone younger. Can definitely finish though.

How times have changed. Ten years ago Swansea were just about a non league team...now if they want a player we are ruled out immediately.... Hull, West Brom, Stoke to name but a few have passed us up. Even Wigan are considered an attractive footballing team......Somat has passed us by over the years.....good management maybe?.....
As for strikers I'd be looking at Spanish/Italian lower divisions for a hidden gem.

The more this rumbles on, the more I'm convincing myself that we will get Rhodes. There are so many bits of circumstantial information flying about that in themselves probably mean nothing, but collectively could be viewed as a clear message that something is going on.
I'll stick my neck out and say that despite all the denials, BWFC are pulling out all the stops to sign Rhodes and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is a Wanderer before the season kicks off. If not, I think we will have been close to signing him (not that it would be any consolation)
I definitely think Dougie is playing a canny hand behind the scenes.

You have absolutely no substance for this apart from wishful thinking. Doog has been relatively open about his transfer needs so far and has stated emphatically that he has admiration for Rhodes but we can't afford him. We can't even afford 1.5 mill for a proven performer in Jay Spearing. Get your head from up your fundament and start being realistic.

Bit strong hate camel, although you're right most of the Rhodes speculation is wishful thinking (Very wishful, but he's too good to be ignored) Dougie hasn't categorically said it won't happen and we can't afford him at any point.
As for Spearing I think you're wrong to assume its a lack of money that's stopped us getting him, I think if Doigie wanted him enough we'd muster £1.5 million, but I don't think Dougies keen. Medos a similar (and better player IMO) so maybe he doesn't see the need? He's always maintained Spearing wont be back.

I'm with wanderlust, Nixon has said that Eddie Davies WILL back freedman with cash for a proven goalscorer. He also is convinced that we will make a move for Rhodes "when the time is right" he keeps saying.
DF wanted JR when at palace, I expect a bid for Rhodes at the very least before August 3rd, unless Blackburn can shift Scott dann for 6 million (good luck)

You're almost right. Everything that has been said publicly by the media and by Rhodes himself implies it won't happen in a month of Sundays.
However, there are lots of little indicators in the things that have been said and (importantly) the things that have not been said that don't quite stack up. If I was looking to buy Rhodes at the best possible price I could, this is exactly how I would play it - calmly and saying nothing to the media.
Maybe I'm giving credit to Dougie prematurely, but so far he's been fairly astute in the marketplace and on that basis I reckon there's a decent chance he's actually going for this behind the scenes.
Which if true, would be a pleasant change after a string of managers who have gone about their business very publicly and ended up either being gazumped or paying over the odds.
You are probably right in suggesting that I'm reading too much into it and over-analysing the messaging - and to all intents and purposes it would seem mad to even think it could happen - but there's just something that is telling me it may be on the cards. Call it a hunch.
