What about Baptiste Culceth? He's played LB and done alright hasn't he? I suspect the line up will be

Bogdan

Hutton - Wheater - Ream - Baptiste

Mavies - Medo - Spearing - Danns

Mason

Juke

more of a 4-4-1-1 than 4-4-2 and I think Ream and Wheater are a better CB pairing than anyone else we've seen so far this term and given Baptiste has played LB Dougie could well be tempted to put him there and drop Zat to make way for Hutton.

I'll be honest and say I hope he doesn't, I think the defence all did well against the dingles and just 'cos Hutton's on loan he shouldn't walk into the side at the expense of an in form player.

not wanting to lose after two good wins, he'll go for a 6-4-0 formation.  Very Happy

I heard he was going 10 - 0 - 0 and that we plan to spend the whole afternoon with all our players standing on our goal line side by side as an eleven man wall.

But then again there's a rumour going round saying Adam Bogdan was kidnapped and replaced by one R Weasley (c/o Hogwarts) because the Leeds manager thinks all redheads look alike!  Laughing

Against Watford and Rover's we didn't play 4-4-2,
We had no winger's, we played a midfield diamond with Spearing at the base
Medo on the right Mavies on the left and Danns at the top with Juke and Mason up front.
In attack it gives the full backs more chance to get forward and when we defend
we've got 3 decent tackler's on each side, Medo, Baptiste and Spearing on the right and Mavies, Ream and Spearing on the left.
Danns has the energy and skill to link midfield and attack and the front 2 have to work their balls of take advantage of forward movement
I feel the starting 11 are the only one's we've got that can play this way, so an injury to the Juke, Mason or Danns would stop us playing this way, IMO.

I think that we'll win this one, I'm going for 1-2 Juke and Mavies.

Depends on the team selection.....play scared = loss.  Play two up with attack = win or at least a draw.

Up to Doogie.

Oh yeah, my prediction. Leeds Utd 0 - 1 Bolton Wanderers.

Three clean sheets in a row. Can't remember the last time we did that although I think we last won 3 games in a row about ten months ago.

We strung three wins on the bounce in November, before losing to a late penalt at Middlsbro.

I think we should stick with the same 11, why change three positions just to lose Knight after two clean sheets (one without Knight)

I fancy a win

Opposition watch: Leeds United

Despite this weekend’s opponents Leeds United currently edging ahead of Wanderers in terms of victories in this fixture with 23 as opposed to the Whites' 22, Dougie Freedman’s side will be hoping to level the playing fields when they take to the Elland Road turf this Saturday afternoon.

With Brian McDermott’s side having left the Reebok with all three points earlier in the season courtesy of Luke Varney’s early opener, Wanderers will travel to West Yorkshire aiming to record their first victory over United in over a decade.

A season which saw them complete a league double over their Whites counterparts with a 2-0 victory at Elland Road before a comprehensive 4-1 win over Eddie Gray’s side in the return fixture at the Reebok – a result which ultimately condemned Leeds to relegation from the top flight – it was a campaign which the United faithful were eager to forget.

Their initial three year stint in England’s second tier was a mixed one, with the team recording a 14th place finish before narrowly missing out on a return to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2006 as they were defeated 3-0 by Watford at the Millennium Stadium.

Having come so close to promotion, the following season was one of struggles as off-the-field problems spilled over onto the pitch with a ten-point deduction for administration leaving the Whites staring down the barrel of League One.

The club proceeded to spend three seasons in the third tier of English football, and after two failed play-off attempts the Elland Road outfit secured promotion back to the Championship in 2010 as they finished runners-up behind Norwich City.

Since their return, United have finished seventh, 14th and more recently 13th in the league standings, with McDermott’s side currently residing in 12th position, just eight points shy of the top six.

With the club eager to make a return to the Premier League after a ten-year exodus, the Leeds faithful will be hoping that their team can find consistency heading into the final stretch of the campaign.

Despite having won just two of their last ten games in all competitions, Leeds did record an emphatic 5-1 victory over local rivals Huddersfield Town in their last home game – one of seven wins at Elland Road this term.

A season which marks manager McDermott’s first full campaign in charge of United, the former Reading boss has certainly brought stability to the ranks with the arrival of Luke Murphy, Scott Wootton and more recently Connor Wickham at the club.

The form of Ross McCormack however has been crucial for the Whites, with the Scotland international having notched 24 goals so far this term – over half of Leeds’ entire league haul.

Heading into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road, Leeds will be looking to record their first victory since mid-February but will come up against a Bolton side eager to make it three on the trot after successive wins over Watford and Blackburn in recent weeks.

TBH Campo, most of us on here, call it a 4-4-2 formation, because we have two strikers up front, which is what the vast majority on here wanted all along. I know we're not playing two wingers, such as Chungy & Eagles and I think you explained our current formation, brilliantly!

I remember a while back at a fans forum at the Reebok and Jay Spearing was asked what formation he prefered and he answered the Diamond formation, that puzzled me slightly, as I thought he meant playing just the one striker up front, which we haven't been doing in our last two games.

I hope you're wrong about we wouldn't be able to play this system without Juke, Danns or Mason. Hopefully, Trotter can replace Danns if necessary and maybe Beckford can replace either Juke or Mason, if needed?

The system of 2 wingers will never work with the likes of Lee and Eagles because for one Lee can't cross a ball to save his life and two eagles hardly ever crosses a ball, instead he cuts in and either lays it to a central midfielder or has a long rage shot.

I said it earlier in the week that the system we have now has come from the players going to the manager and suggesting the current system, their is no way dougie and his 2 coaches have thought this system up.

I'm just a little concerned, that If we do manage to put in another late run, like we did last season and our form improves remarkably with the Diamond formation, what will Dougie do in the summer transfer window?

Will Dougie go out and try to bring players in that will fit into his prefered 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 formation or try and recruit players that are more suitable to the Diamond formation?

This is all very confusing and I'm glad I am just a humble fan, that knows fook all about football!

This is all hypothetical btw!  ::bwfc::

Sorry Aaron, but what a load of complete bollocks. What possible evidence do you have to suggest that this formation was not from Dougie?

I'm reliably informed that it's the same starting eleven from last week for the Leeds match - so Hutton will be on the bench.

Culcheth, I've only seen a bit off Trotter so far but he looked more like Pratley to me, and Beckford is a lazy bugger so Juke or Mason are going to do all the running, but the team now playing is the best we've had so far, I fancy us for all 3 points

Yeah, fair enough Campo, Trotter hasn't impressed me whatsoever since we signed him and I know Beckford is a tart and a lazy bugger, but he can score. Let's just hope Dougie knows what he's doing!
