For the twenty seventh time on here.........Nobody thinks UKIP are aver going to lead the country.

Yesterday was a massive protest against the three major parties.

People have had enough of being lectured by vacuous politicians who don't fundamentally understand the issues that are important to the average man in the street.

So if you can't vote for any of the main three parties, who's left?

The usual array of nutters and novelty acts, the BNP, some hippies who all smell of pot or the one bloke who is saying (at a very basic level) the right things on one very important issue: immigration.

The country is full.

There is no more room to let anybody else in.

We have a finite amount of space and that's why house prices are so ridiculously high in this country.

Average house price nationally? About £225,000.

How the fuck is a first time buyer earning £20,000 supposed to buy a house?

So for a lot of people, Farage has ticked at least one major box.

Calm down boys,we've all had a drink. I've been a member of the Labour party for over 30 years, and I voted Green! My problem with Farage is that I find it hard to dislike him,try as I might. If I thought the rest of his party weren't class A nutters I might have voted UKIP myself. If I were drunk enough.

Have you been on it all night and are still going?

Hats off to you, my good sir! :drink:

Day off today so could afford to overdo it. I'm sat here at the minute with an almost drained pint of guinness and a large bag of cough candy. I'm living the dream. Very Happy

Clearly not everybody is voting for them as a form of protest, you say he's ticked the immigration box. But do you think shutting the door completely and pulling out of the EU (which would be the only way of doing so) is the right solution?

In places like Rotherham where traditional Labour voters switched to UKIP the arguments voiced were similar to those RT has put. Working people are concerned about the immigration/over-population/employment issue or at least one aspect of it depending on who they are, but Mr Ed doesn't inspire them as a leader and the party hasn't taken the issue seriously enough.
Consequently they have voted UKIP as a wake up call and are expecting Labour to deliver clear policies to deal with it. If they do, the same people will go back to voting Labour in a general election.

We wouldn't have to pull out of the EU, though would we?

There are options available to impose and re-negotiate transit controls and we still retain a fair degree of self-determination on this issue, but successive governments have hidden behind the myth that there's nothing they can do because their hands are tied by Brussels.

Shutting the door completely is DEFINITELY the right solution.

If UKIP ever take power would I have to leave for my ancestral home?

But it's not a myth, being part of the EU means freedom of movement, it's one of their fundamental issues. We can try and renegotiate and by all means I think we should but I doubt we'll be successful.

Crappest UKIP jokes:

I'm getting sick and tired of Nigel Farage's constant racist, sexist stereotyping; the man doesn't know when to shut up.
He gets that from his German wife.

Nigel Farage says that homosexuality makes most people over 70 uncomfortable.
I'm guessing they're just not using enough lube.

Although a UKIP MEP has stated that Bongo Bongo Land doesn't actually exist, it is still above Scotland and Wales in the FIFA world rankings.

The BNP have accused UKIP of having racist immigration policies. If you ask me, that's the pot calling the kettle... Never mind.

A UKIP councillor has claimed that the legalisation of gay marriage caused the recent floods. Erm, the country was flooded with water, not spunk.

Now David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United, he should become the new leader of UKIP. They have no interest in Europe either.

Any more?

...and that's why we saw what we did yesterday.

People want whoever the ruling party is to at least try.

And thanks to UKIP, they will now have to.

Prior to yesterday, none of the major parties would ever have even considered taking a genuinely firmer stance on the immigration issue, for fear of looking racist in the eyes of the electorate and losing votes.

Now that the people have spoken, they know that there is a real need to address this issue and hopefully, that will be Farage's legacy.
