I finally decided on a char-grilled chicken breast, thin cut chips and a salad with a thousand island dressing

Very little. Just paid £233 for a 58 cup final shirt signed by 6 of the players. I'm keeping a low profile. Looks like 'nil by mouth' for the next few days.

Surprised you've got any wall space left.....
Was the purchase completed in the full knowledge of Mrs Bonce or did you have to do a bit of a "George Smiley" like I have to?
I bought a Fender Stratocaster once on Ebay and had to hide it in the wardrobe for months.
I told the wife it was eighty quid when she eventually found it 'cos she hasn't a clue how much they cost but some bastard she works with set her straight and I nearly ended up wearing it.....
Lovely guitar though.....

Not said a thing. Got to have it framed now,and getting it in the house under my jumper isn't on. I'm going with the 'a mate died and left it to me' option, when the time comes. Trouble is,I've got form. Nice deal getting the Fender though Bread. If it's not being too nosy, how much did it set you back. I might be able to use the info to my advantage by pointing you out as being even barmier than I am if it all kicks off.

It set me back almost 700 quid and I'm not ashamed to admit my arse was twitching when I clicked "Confirm Bid" on Ebay.
It's something I'd always wanted and I rationalized it to myself by saying that if she really loved me, she'd understand and would eventually come to see it as an investment. (Yeah...like I'd ever sell it!)
I woke up the next morning and thought "Oh fuck...what have I done...?"
I actually booked a few days off work so I could be there when it arrived and hide it before she got home.
However, because I'd managed to pull my first big "sting" off, I made the same mistake all idiot criminals make and thought I could keep going with complete impunity.
I bought a Marshall 100 Watt Combo and managed to secrete that in the shed for about 6 months before I introduced it into the spare bedroom and married it up with my "80 quid" guitar.
She clocked it and asked me where it had come from and I dismissed it as "my old amp from my Uni days that'd been at Mum & Dad's for years" and said I'd done them a favour by moving out of their loft.
All was well until she got talking with some clown she worked with who had a side-line as a guitarist in a local band and he mentioned that he'd just bought his dream guitar - a Strat.
She pipes up "My husband's got one of them. He got it off Ebay for 80 quid" and the bloke said "Really....? I paid 1500 quid for mine" which understandably made her think for a minute....
...before coming home and calling me a lying bastard.
She then googled "Marshall Amplification" and I was then in deep shit.
We got through it eventually and laugh about it now.
Just don't mention the 14 foot boat I snapped up for a song one night which is still "berthed" in her parents back garden ten years on.......
