And that's all I'm saying on the subject because I'm not prepared to go into what was said to me specifically via PM, other than I was told that one of the regulars on here was one of the co-owners but when I contacted him he advised me that it was a load of bollocks, he wasn't one of the owners and I shouldn't believe what I'd been told. Or indeed anything else that I'd been toild by this individual.
And I don't like being made to look stupid in public, hence why I've backed off.
I don't know what you want us to say really as we simply can't 'guarantee' the authenticity of anything!
What I mean is that the nature of an internet forum is (by and large) that few of the posters on here actually know anyone else from the site in real life and therefore it is impossible to tell if their internet personas they use are real or fake.
On top of that it is very easy if you have a mind to, to create fake accounts that get around the few measures most forums have of preventing them.
People simply create numerous email addresses to register from, use proxy ip addresses that can't be traced and post away as whoever they want to be.
For what it is worth we have baned all KNOWN fake accounts but there are still a number that we 'think' are fake but we can't PROVE are.
What do we do - ban everyone we are unsure of? They simply just bob up again a short time later under a new account if we do. The ones that don't were probably genuine posters in the first place - that we've just fired off for nothing at all, other than we didn't like the look of them!
We are all supposed to be grown up on here with a modicum of common sense each, so it should not be too hard to take most of what is said on any forum with a certain degree of scepticism - at least that is what I do.
The people who run this site do it in their own time, for free and with general good intent. We do it for the love of our club, the wanting to socialise with like minded souls and above all for a bit of a shared craic.
We aren't the masters of the universe, we can't stop people being pillocks on the internet, we aren't here to fulfil some personal shortcomings we have in our private lives such as having the power to send into the etherial wilderness, internet 'personas' we don't like, we simply want to relax and enjoy the site like the rest of you and very occassionally ask people to 'pack it in' when they've gone that bit too far.
As for being made to look stupid in public, well have you - does anybody know who you really are - and of the very few who might - how many of them would actually give a toss about it - because they KNOW the real you.
Christ I'm made out to be nothing less than Satan if you listen to the outpourings of some of those I've simply ask to 'behave' in the past - and who have taken that as a personal slight of their manhood and something to be revenged upon at all costs upon!
Fuck me it's just the internet!
Sticks and stones and all that.
It's obviously clear that 99% of the site likes you mate and that you like 99% of us too!
So how about coming back, simply blocking the ones you don't like and enjoying the rest of us and the site itself?
Surely that's the best way to go for everybody's sake.
