What I'm surprised about is that local newspaper hasn't written two columns, one arguing to sack Lennon on moral grounds etc and the other defending him.

Then asking for a vote. Sounds to me local rag thought it was a rubbish story and was prepared to ignore it and hopefully it would go away

the local rag don't like to rock the boat at all, they've been useless over all this winding up order and the sale of the club. Plus they never had the balls to question the club regards finances and the debt.

Truer words have not been spoken Norpig.  I'm sure no one has stepped up to the plate after seeing the books... cooked or uncooked.  Hopefully cooler heads will prevail, and a nice take-over and transition will be possible.
