I work with 3 Muslims on the two teams I work with (out of 21 people)
Sehrish, originally from Derby but now lives in Fallowfield - is a non-practising Muslim but doe try to uphold the tradition of fasting at religious occasions (although due to her health most of the time she does have to boycott it). Her husband is also a Muslim, and works in Westhoughton. There is nothing unusual about them and get on with their lives and even socialise with us all at the office parties (such as te Coronation Street Summer Ball at the end of September)
Adil - from Rochdale, does follow his religion but also accepts the western way of the world and dresses as such - he doesn't drink but he also eats both halal and non-halal foods. Apart from that he enjoys gaming on his x-box or playstation and, again, socialising with his mates and with work!
Hassan - from Stalyvegas, paart prctoces but is definitely most western of the three and enjoys work, life and socialising.
There are a couple of others in the office, whom I don't know - one wears the headscarfe, but is the head of her team and definitely knows her stuff and another who does keep himself, Immy, to himself - I used to know him at Bank of New York. Again he does practice but is far more western in his attitude.
Fr me it honestly does not matter what they wear or what their religion is - I treat everyone the way I want to be treated, but in most cases I have found that Muslims are just ordinary people wanting to get on with the lives, just like everyone else in the country.
