I'll be happy with the number 9 shirt. I've got pace, can strike the ball with both feet, and I can head a ball with the power of a shot.
I do,however have a problem keeping my specs on,and a nurse on standby would be a minimum requirement.
I'm better than Madine at any rate.

Nobody knows FOS but the main effect of the petition is to put a timeframe on it because if a deal isn't done before the court hearing it's likely to mean the order will be granted and that in turn would probably mean administration and all that comes with it.
At least we'll get an answer one way or the other shortly instead of this interminable silence that's been dragging on for what seems like an eternity.

There'll be no deal this side of administration. The HMRC might not be owed much compared to our total debt but now they've jumped you can bet the rest of the creditors are right behind them and no one in their right mind will want to buy us as things stand. It would cost a lot, lot less to let the club go into admin and then put a CVA in place than it would to take it over as a going concern that loses 750K every month.

Boggers, get your head out of the sand or come up with something tangible to back up your assertions. Frankly you're either totally stupid or blindly optimistic because you seem to have no idea what the petition from HMRC means in a wider context. How much we owe them is almost irrelevant. They don't pull this trigger unless they are SURE they won't get their money any other way. Once they have served the petition it sends the other creditors into panic and you'd better believe that this is just the start. We're ten days away from the staff's payday with no clear idea of whether or not they're going to be paid. One week after that the players will be due December's wage and if they don't get it then every single one of them becomes a free agent automatically.
If you really know anything which I frankly doubt then put it up for others to see because right now you look like a coyote howling at the moon and you make just about as much sense as one.

If every player becomes a free agent does that mean we no longer have to pay out the rest of their contracts? Could be good to get rid the high earners. That's what's killing us

Doesn't entirely work like that btid. They are free to find another club, and we would get no compensation from that club (moot point how much some of them would be worth) but as long as they are on our books we are contractually obliged to pay them for the rest of their contract. In practical terms, were we to go into admin (boggers don't shout at me) the administrator would see if there were deals to be done with players giving them a payoff now, but less than they would get for rest of their contract, always assuming there is money available from other asset sales to fund this.BoltonTillIDie wrote:If every player becomes a free agent does that mean we no longer have to pay out the rest of their contracts? There aren't that many creditors ED is the major one and it's his debt, which he will write of when the club is sold. The real problem is cash flow. We ain't getting enough in to cover costs. HMRC bill just brings the talks to a ahead.luckyPeterpiper wrote:There'll be no deal this side of administration. Actually mate there are a lot of creditors, many of whom are suppliers of things like kit, catering supplies, stationery and so on. They may not be big numbers individually but together they amount to a very significant sum and more importantly they are people whose services we rely on to keep functioning. With HMRC serving a winding up order I can see many of them cutting off whatever line of credit we have with them and demanding payment of both the existing debt and payment up front for future services. As you rightly say cashflow is the major problem right now and that is crippling us in ways you might not expect. For instance what if something goes wrong with the plumbing in the toilets at the ground? Or there's a problem with the electricity? I appreciate that ED has said he'll write off his debt but even that won't be enough right now because there's no money coming in and our debts elsewhere will continue to grow while they remain unpaid. With Eddie basically saying he won't put any more in and with us continuing to lose money at the rate of 3/4 million quid a month I doubt the smaller creditors are going to feel reassured by his offer to write off his debt.FullofSprite wrote:There aren't that many creditors ED is the major one and it's his debt, which he will write of when the club is sold. Crunch week for us now. Can't be sure but I feel it in my bones that new owners will be announced this week.
God knows what we'll be getting if the sale is completed but I'm pretty confident it won't mean huge investment in the team. We'll find out soon enough.

My money (as it's always been and you're probably getting very bored of hearing it now) is on administration.
Rammy,
With your finance head on, is there any potential benefit to ED of doing it voluntarily now or would he just wait until the HMRC hearing on the 18th of Jan?

A big possible plus is that it would stop all our players from becoming free agents because of being unpaid. They'd be listed as assets as well as football creditors (November wages) while interest on other debts (eg HMRC) would be frozen and thus not make the debt any larger. However, the big downside is that it would result in a fire sale of everyone decent that we have such as Clough because the administrator would be obliged to sell them for as much as he could get as quickly as possible. Admin CAN clean the books when done right but given how things have panned out at Leeds and Portsmouth there's no reason to be confident that will be the case. About the only club I can think of where administration was properly handled and benefited the club in the long term is Southampton.Breadman wrote:My money (as it's always been and you're probably getting very bored of hearing it now) is on administration.
