but we would have to start at the bottom of non league (as mentioned already i think) and would end up in the Northern Premier or whatever it's called these days. Who's going to make the effort to go and watch that? With the best will in the world i would say yes but in reality....

But the FL wouldn't let a newco start there lusty. We'd be down the pile, possibly (if we're lucky) in the Conference but more likely in the Northern Premier League. I admit that it's early doors to be thinking this way but I believe we need to accept that it is a possibility and that if the club was as well supported as the size of the town suggests it should be we wouldn't be in this position to begin with. In all truth the entire North West of England is jam packed with football clubs, too many to sustain a profitable operation at FL or Premiership level for them all. Chester found that out the hard way, Tranmere struggle because of their proximity to the Scouse Reds and Blues, Bury, Rochdale, Wigan and us are all within easy reach of Man Utd or Man City and the sad fact is we might just be the biggest North West club to go under but we won't be the first and we won't be the last to have to start all over again should the worst happen now.wanderlust wrote:luckyPeterpiper wrote:Only if someone WANTS to reform the club and put money into it. In this area that might be a dicey proposition. Look where we are geographically, at the number of other clubs close by including Man Utd, Man City, Blackburn, Burnley, Preston, Accrington Stanley, Bury and Rochdale to name just a few. I think if we did reform it would be well out of the league, somewhere down at Northern Premier level and we'd have to find a new ground and build new facilities. Even if it had the Bolton Wanderers name it would be a totally new club rebuilding from scratch. How many of the thirteen or fourteen thousand who turned up for the Cardiff match do you think would show up to watch us play, say Bamber bridge?Hipster_Nebula wrote:I don't think we will be wound up anyway, but it proves there is life for a club after this situation.
Just putting aside the hysteria that these as yet unsubstantiated rumours have caused, if HMRC were to apply for a winding-up order and if it was granted and if there were no non-essential liquid assets that could be cashed in to sort it and if no altruists were to come forward and if that eventually led to the demise of BWFC in it's present form we are still left with a town of around 150k inhabitants - a damned site bigger than most and certainly large enough to justify a footie team in the football league.

We will come out of this stronger and maybe with our soul back.
the club is rotten to the core right now.

According to some, we've been too good to be relegated in the past. Anything can happen and it probably will!
I'll have to find something else to do every other Saturday afternoon if the worst occurs, to some it won't matter a jot.

Personally I doubt it will come to it, but if it did I think we'd end up enjoying the ride of non-league football. I'm certain this site will carry on, at least we might win a few games.
Back to back promotions headed by Jimmy Phillips, tantalising.

I said a town the size of Bolton could support a League team. It may take some time to get there but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

My comments are always a complete model of total brevity. They are concise, crisp and make Gary Lineker's Everton shorts look like long johns. I am never, ever verbose and would not dream of typing any comment that is longer than ten words in total.Norpig wrote:LPP, me and you are typing more or less the same comments although yours are longer than mine as usual!

Yes. I decided to throw my hat into the ring in order to win a £10 bet with Bread.Hipster_Nebula wrote:Inquiry from a new bidder today.
I've offered £50 and guaranteed to sell off the hotel, the over 30 players and other peripheral assets in order to buy a new team. Still waiting to hear back from Trev.

if it's cash up front it's yours Lusty. Do Nuts members get preferential treatment when you are the big boss?wanderlust wrote:Yes. I decided to throw my hat into the ring in order to win a £10 bet with Bread.Hipster_Nebula wrote:Inquiry from a new bidder today.

Obviously there will be a Nuts executive box and fast track to the first team if anyone fancies a game.Norpig wrote:if it's cash up front it's yours Lusty. I was thinking Manda might fancy the midfield general role?

Some talk that Shania Twain has put in a bid - with an agreement to do some pop concerts but don't believe it myself. She is a big footie fan though

Just need to dot the i's and cross the t's on the deal and I'll get back to you with the details of your first game but for now I'd pencil in Forest away on the 16th Jan.
Nat can be team coach - we just need to take his teeth out and put t'seats in
