Bit Defender and Chrome. Tried that DuckDuckGo but was advised by a fellow officer that the hierarchy might think I've got something to hide. Use Opera Mini for the old dog and bone.
Windows Defender seems not too bad, Avira a bit clunky and AVG had problems a year or two ago so switched.
As xmiles I tried Firefox and would go back if I can suss how to plant the bookmarks bar across the top of the screen rather than down the side. I'm a funny bugger when it comes to ergonomics.

If you click on the 3 line 'open menu'bars in the top right hand corner,then click on customise,then at the bottom of the screen click on show/hide toolbars,that might be the answer.Bollotom2014 wrote:Bit Defender and Chrome. Long time since I've used Firefox but you could have a look.

Thanks, Boncey. Worked like a charm. I must have missed the little widget thing.

May be I'm being too cynical/suspicious but this site has some interesting comments about fortiguard:

It's all about opinions. Do we really need any of it?

I use Symantec endpoint protection (very resource friendly) which is the business version and not generally for the home user unlike the Norton brand by Symantec.
I passed only 1 out of the 18 tests and I can say as well that it is a load of tosh.
My network and PC system has all the updates and patches to date and is as secure as it can be.
I don't recommend any free antivirus as it is well free. It isn't going to be as good at securing your system as a paid for piece of software. Just think about it for a second.

I know it plugs Malwarebytes but this article covers the basics pretty well;

I'm afraid most of this stuff is all Double Dutch to me! I'm using Avast free but I'm wondering if I should by the AVG Anti-Virus? It's advertised on ebay for £1.50 for 12 months protection. Basically the buyer e-mails you with a product key and you activate it and are covered for 12 months.

RT,I've tested them all over the years,and if you're looking for a free AV,then look no further than Bitdefender free. It uses the same engine as it's paid for product. Simply set it and forget it.
