And the news coming out of China as to the progress being made........the secret state is telling porkies nat..... no proof or evidence of it being either way.
And whilst the way Martin said what he said wasn't the best way to put it, ultimately the bit about them eating anything with a pulse is both true and disgusting in equal measure.
If we do go into lockdown on Friday is going to be a nightmare.
It's the racist words used Johnny calling them slit eyed fuckers.
My Mrs is half Chinese.
I don't think you would appreciate it if you were in the same position mate.
Lockdown is the way to go with this to stop it spreading like other contries have IMO.
I doubt the truth with China on having only one case is true also but not a clue on Prince Phillip.
Unless you’re a vegetarian I don’t think it’s a fair criticism to make - apologies if you are of course.
The fact we value a dogs life higher than a cows is nonsense, there’s no ethical justification for eating meat.

Make no mistake, the Government's strategy for business is going to send a lot of companies to the wall and a lot of employees to the dole - unlike Denmark where the Government has pledged to cover 75% of payroll costs providing they agree not to cut staff. Article here.
And that's because the Danish Government realise that the cost of paying people to be unemployed, the long-term loss of business tax revenue and the growth-stunting employer shortfall will far exceed the cost of supporting payroll in the short term.
Sunak was quick to justify increased public borrowing last week on the basis that rates are very low, so surely he can borrow to plug the payroll gap for a few months to keep people in work and businesses afloat so that they are in place to rebuild the economy when the situation improves?
Seems the Government have finally cottoned on to the payroll issue and today Sunak will announce measures to protect jobs and businesses..
Will they go the whole Danish or fiddle about around the edges with sector or business model - specific initiatives via e.g. tax should be revealed by close of play.
Hoping they will bite the bullet and do the right thing - millions of livelihoods and the broader economy depend on it.

On the retired doctors and nurses thing...
Letters (?) are going out to doctors and nurses who have left the service in the last 3 years - so actuarially it means that there's a decent chance that a high proportion of them will not be in the high risk category which will alleviate the concern I expressed about this last week.
I know doctors still prefer to use snail mail to email, but given the circumstances you'd perhaps think they'd phone or communicate electronically to speed things up a bit? Anyway we'll see how this pans out soon enough.

My mate had his milk and other stuff delivered by his milkman pinched from outside his house! What is wrong with people? He has cameras on his house so has it on film but can't recognise them but it must be a neighbour i reckon.

Bloody hell. I'd better be up with the lark to make sure ours doesn't get nabbed. What's wrong with people. Watched crowds fighting to get into a supermarket yesterday, and it was embarrassing.Norpig wrote:My mate had his milk and other stuff delivered by his milkman pinched from outside his house! It was a lot quieter in my local supermarket this morning. I managed to get bog roll and hand wash plus most other things I wanted.
But, and it's a MASSIVE but, they were sold out of Twirls. It just got serious for me. Someone in Preston is currently hoarding Twirls and I want to find this tosspot. Eric is on the case.

I've heard so much bullshit about the British fighting spirit and other cliche's about the superiority of the British to stay calm and carry on through thick and thin over the last 3 years to choke on my own vomit - and yet a trip the local shop amply demonstrates the truth of the matter. We'd kill our own mothers for a bog roll.

Like most things Wander, the stiff upper lip, etc, was a thing of years ago. Nowadays, its a case of 'Fuck you Jack, I'm alright'.wanderlust wrote:I've heard so much bullshit about the British fighting spirit and other cliche's about the superiority of the British to stay calm and carry on through thick and thin over the last 3 years to choke on my own vomit - and yet a trip the local shop amply demonstrates the truth of the matter. I'll tell you something I've noticed, and it could be down to the editing, or whatever, but a lot of help for the homeless, and suchlike is given by different churches which include Muslims, and a lot of Sikhs. Maybe its a regional thing as I see a lot of this in the Bristol area especially. Just thought I'd I mention it. Maybe the spirit is still there, but it has changed to include all of us.

Says the man who had a video link to a Wanderers game and count even be arsed sharing it with the rest of us who were in the Chat Box with him!
I still can't get over how self-centred and selfish of you that was.
Fwiw I asked for help with some shopping today and it was given willingly and freely.
I believe most people are decent but obviously there are plenty that aren't.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if you're one of the hoarders and well stocked up and everything ten times over and I'm sure you would trample over your own mother to get to the last toilet roll if need be.
We will come out of this in time so we've got to make the best of it until then so why not pack in bloody moaning all the time until then?

I hope Xmiles and everyone else managed to get enough supplies in today.
Clocked a woman walking past the house around lunch time today with a pack of Andrex which looked promising.

Not yet mate but Mrs Pig is suffering, she can't sit still at the best of times (unlike me as i'm a lazy sod) so she's going a bit stir crazy.
We did go in the back garden for a bit this afternoon just to get some fresh air.
I do feel a bit guilty as work is really ramping up with all the extra wards needing stocking up with drugs just in case but all i can do at the moment is read emails from home.

Nobody else find him a hypocritical, self-centred, constantly moaning, know-it-all, who thinks he's never wrong?
Because that's what he is.
Do you think the government is deliberately not doing the best for the people, or that folk won't help others to get through this - because that has what he's said on this thread.
Sorry but I'm just not having it and have called him out over it.

You would think that they would be prioritising health workers like yourself and your wife, to get tested, so as to get those not infected back helping to fight it rather than be out the game for ten days.
My brother and his wife go into a four month lockdown soon, no doubt she will be finding him loads of jobs to do though!
I think this is only the beginning and we'll be going through this on and off for the best part of this year and next.
We will come out of it in the end though. so we might as well stay positive until we do!

The non testing of NHS workers I cannot understand. They should be tested daily to prevent spread when arriving at work. It’s bloody ridiculous.
This will be going on way past the 12 weeks Boris thinks it can be finished with by then. I’m not sure he’s saying this to give people a focus as in the summer holidays to look forward too.
We need a proper lockdown. He will have to do it at some point looking at the situation with Italy.

We're only one step away from it. I think they are just waiting for a few things to drop into place and then they'll come up with it. I get the distinct feeling that the virus has moved forward a few days before they expected it to.
My wife has been given 12 weeks off work as she is vulnerable, (not always the word I would use to describe her !), but I know she's going to drive me nuts, so will dig out the jigsaws of long ago, and finally make those big Airfix models I was supposed to do 5 years ago, when I retired.
I shall shut myself in my study, turn on Gold radio and pick between models, jigsaws, and Netflix
