Time To Ban The Gays?

Firstly, before you all get your oversized y-fronts in a twist, let me make it clear I am not homophobic in the slightest, far from it.

However, it has been announced this week that 1 in 20 gay men has HIV. Of the 6000 people diagnosed with HIV in the UK last year, 50% were gay men. Amazing when you consider gay men only make up around 3% of the population.

A small number of those gay men will be bisexual and opening having sex with women. We are close to another HIV epidemic. One that could potentially wipe mankind out inside 100 years.

This isn't just gay men at risk, it's every single one of us. So isn't it time we took steps to stop this? It isn't politically correct, but it's time to outlaw gay sex in the UK. It might not be fair, but surely we have to save mankind by any means necessary?

Why does it feel like the 1980's all over again with extreme exageration of the problem, lack of funding for advertising and advice etc etc etc.

So how forward have we come in teh last 30 years - not much.

How can you ban something which someone is born with ? Not all gay people are promiscuous. Most sensible gay men use protection the same as heterosexual people. Fortunately this is the UK and not Nigeria or Zimbabwe.

However, it has been announced that although the number is down we are still the worst in Europe and ahead of America and Australia when it comes to Teen Mothers.

A small number of those Teen Mothers will have probably been unduly raped by their boyfriends and strangers and due to their religion will not be allowed to have an abortion or be frightened to tell their parents that they are pregnant. But, for one reason ro another, a quite large number of Teen Mothers actually plan to get pregnant whist being a teenager.

So isn't it time we took steps to stop this? It isn't politically correct, but it's time to outlaw sex, between teh ages of 16 (and younger in quite a few cases) and 24 in the UK. It might not be fair, but surely we have to save innocence by any means necessary?

This is the choice. Play nice and be politically correct and have humankind die out in 100 years - or ban gay sex and slow the spread of HIV.

Everything you have just sprouted, above, comes straight from the mid-1980's when they expected over 1 million people to carry the HIV virus by the the turn of the century!!!

Plus you have not quoted where you got your facts from (i.e. by 2020 4in 20 men will carry the virus - it wouldn't surprise me if it came from The Daily Mail as they like to create a fear-factor from nothing). You also forgot to mention how many women will be carrying the virus or how many people got the virus through heterosexual sex, sharing needles, kissing, hugging, drinking from the same glass, holding hands or even how many people do not actually know they are carrying the virus.

To be fair its about publicity and advice - just as much as what Teen pregnancy was. Did you know that less than 1/10 of all total funds is spent on advertising and educating about the HIV virus, compared to the amopunt given to advertise and educate about teen pregnancy!!! (BBC Breakfast, Channel 5's The wright Stuff and ITN Online)

Manditory aids tests for everyone. Kill the people who test positive. Kill all queers just to make sure they don't start spreading it again. Problem solved.

How do you spell mandatory, again?

Wrong course of action as possibly, if you ever have children, one or even all could be gay!!! How would you feel if you child was comdemned to death just because they like sleeping with someone of the same sex.

I do assume, of course, you are also talking about lesbians when you say queer! If not then, again, your theory process is wrong - as why be selective? Isn't a "queer" just a "queer" no matter what sex they are?

There was a caller on The Wright Stuff this morning saying that she had gone undiagnosed for 7 years. She had been drugged raped by a Jamaican, but blood test after blood test the HIV was not tested for until one doctor decided to test for it. Unfortunately for her there was a chain reaction as she had passed the virus on to other men, without knowing. Why should they be killed off for something they didn't know about?

There is actually an interesting and serious debate behind this thread. There's little doubt in my mind that homosexuals deserve equal rights, but there's also little doubt that gay men are hugely to blame for the spread of HIV.

Unfortunately, as the spread of HIV is unlikely to impact on our politicians in the near future nothing will be done about it. In a 100 years our great, great, grandchildren will be pissing on our graves "thanking" us for doing nothing.

Blahblahblah shut up Amos you bent bastard. I wouldn't even waste an aids test on you. You'd be soaked in petrol in Dam Square and burnt alive to send out a message to the other local queers that it's not ok to spread aids.

What about other STD's at one point in history they were all fatal? In that case in Dave's theory, all who has an STD or is a sex addict/nymphomaniac/etc should be burnt alive or shot dead to stop ALL STD's from spreading.

I'm not for a minute condoning what Bernie suggested above, but neither can we just sit back and decide who is guilty and who isn't. If we don't do something drastic to eradicate this disease we'll all be dead. How does that help mankind?

No Natasha that was teh fear that was doing the rounds during the mid 1980's when the virus was first discovered, although many people had died decades before without realising it (in fact the known case of AIDS related illness death was diagnosed in the 1990's from the remains of a ex-soldier who died at the turn of teh 20th Century) was primarily due to the virus. As I said during that peirod they were suggesting over 1 million would carry the virus by the turn of teh century - as it turned out its nowhere near that figure.

Remember that HIV/AIDS does not kill people, it weakens the immune defence and that can lead to other virus' such as Pneumonia which then kills.

To be fair it needs education, advertising and promotion, just as much as Teengae Pregnancy has had over the last few years. It needs the promotion of safe sex and the use of condoms during casual sex. Thats not just for gays but for everyone as anyone can carry teh virus and anyone can catch it!

This approach does work as, although numbers have slightly increased in the UK and Europe, the number of people with the HIV has decreased by 20% in teh African nations, were it was prevailant - but education and advertisement has helped to push the numbers down.

1 in 20 gay men have HIV. It doesn't matter how much you educate, they will still go at it like rabbits.

How can you be so relaxed when 3% of the population account for 50% of HIV cases in the UK?

Because I know its a small risk. Of all teh men you have been with, have you have unprotected sex? If so, how do you know that you haven't got HIV? It is about being careful, just like any other STD.
