It appears he has lost his confidence and a change of scenery can work wonders...He might turn out to be shite but I'll give him a chance before I write him off.

The stats speak for themselves- enough has been said about them. Read what you want into them.
It's the bit about 'he has lost his confidence' that bothers me.
Our first team squad also seems to have collectively lost confidence and so he's coming to a pretty depressing place with us. I hope his confidence does return with the move -otherwise the loss of confidence will be contagious and we'll have another player ground down by whets going on

This is looking like the deal that is most likely to come to fruition. He could make his debut against Ipswich.

You could be right but I think Saturday is more likely.

Not sure about Saturday - by that time Dougie will have actually seen him play, so I'm thinking it's tonight or never.

He won't be match fit - surely you get this by now?

He'll be on the bench tonight and might get the last 20 minutes as a run out and to see how he gels with the other forward players.

Boggers I don't think he CAN make his debut tonight mate. I believe the paperwork has to be filed 24 hrs in advance of him playing. I might be wrong on that one but I'm almost certain he's ineligible for tonight.

SSN says he's STILL not our player, no mention on BBC or BWFC website either. Wonder what the hold up is? Watched Dougie's interview again and he doesn't seem confident when he talks about paperwork taking longer than we'd like. Is this guy registered through a third party a la Tevez and Mascherano or something? Or is he perhaps carrying an injury that's holding the job up.

cheers karly, read that BUT there's still no official word that the deal is done. How can he figure in a squad for tonight? I really thought there was a rule about registration being completed 24hrs before a match. I may not be enthusiastic about this guy but I'll be even less so if he gets named in the squad and turns out to be ineligible. Three point deduction is not what we need right now.

41.3.1 in respect of any fixture played on a weekday when the Office is normally open, at least three hours before the match; or

41.3.2 in respect of any other fixture:

(a) 12 noon on the day of the match; or

(b) at least three hours before the match,

whichever is the earlier.

so we have until 4.45 (expect an announcement at 4.44)

Then he CAN'T play tonight. 12 noon is the earlier of the two conditions and has passed already. We don't have until 4.45 according to this BTID.

Whoops, my bad, misread the first line. You're right we do have until 4.45. I am a twit.  affraid

Has he passed a medical for us?

We DO need a left back you know.

Like, urgently.

We need more than that mate. We need a strong centre midfielder, we need the rest of them to remember how to keep and pass the ball and we need Dougie to use a bit of tactical nous to see his "plan" ain't working before we hit League One. LB is only one of a myriad of problems, I agree it's a big one but it's not going to do us much good to solve it and leave the rest.

Lovely story about how you and your wife met LPP.

What you say above about lack of quality in more or less EVERY position (Thanks Owen - wtf were you up to when you were the manager to allow that to happen?), the thing about a left back is that we simply don't have a fit first team one - and have not done since the end of SEPTEMBER!!!

That's nearly FOUR months ago!

We even knew that Tierney was going to be out for several months following his broken foot within days of it happening -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

We've had to use players out of position since then to play left back AND break up the flourishing Mills/Ream pairing at the back and play Knight in the team once again.

We've had several loans in since Tierney's break - but none of them have been the much needed left back.

I can't understand why not?

Knight's constant 'lapses' and a 7-1 stuffing would suggest to me an obvious and urgent problem that needed/needs sorting out.

Seems obvious to me.
