I'm hearing things like...
* It's just banter
* He's talented
* It's the way he is i.e. a bit eccentric
* That's the problem with the PC brigade
* The show is popular and cutting it will cost the BBC a fortune
Last time I heard that defence it was when former BBC colleagues were justifying why they didn't do anything about their concerns over Jimmy Savile in the 70s and 80s - after all, Jimmy was a popular banter merchant with a high-earning show and was equally "eccentric". Because of this very argument they did nothing.
This has turned into a debate where people's opinions are being based on their feelings towards political correctness and/or opinion of Clarkson - not about whether celebrities should or should not be exempt from breaking the law (if proven)
These people supporting Clarkson are supporting the very approach/attitude to the law that allowed Savile to continue to molest children for another 30 years. Ignorant bastards the lot of them.
Very good, Wanderlust. Totally agree. Rich celebs like JC and J Ross should be setting an example. I'll never forget JC's imbecilic rant on The One Show, for which he should have been immediately sacked.wanderlust wrote:Just listening to the phone in on 5 live en route to a meeting and can't believe how many idiots are supporting the idea of "it's OK to break the law (if that's proven) if you're a celebrity."

Couldn't agree more.Numpty 28723 wrote:I'll never understand why so many people worship at the altar of pot-bellied Clarkson and his dopey crew. He's an embarrassment to his gender - a bloated throw-back who still thinks it's all about driving big fast macho cars around and probably still gets off every night on his stash of 70's Playboy mags.
The box is crammed with all these freeloader types travelling the world at everybody else's expense - the worst for it are all those arseholes in aprons who've been "blessed" with the ability to boil a pan of peas or chuck a couple of haddock into a frying pan. That's brilliant, mate, well done, now would you like to fly over to Brazil, Indonesia & Australia and and let us film you doing exactly the same thing over there!

One day, they'll realise that Clarkson IS the establishment and is no more "revolutionary" than his myriad scriptwriters tell him to be.

WTF!! Its a nothing story about a TV presenter who twatted someone and got suspended.
Is that really the most important story in the UK/World today.
Personally I couldn't give a monkeys if he never returns to the screen I'm utterly indifferent about him.
But does this completely minor event deserve to be the most important news event in the UK today?

You really do think you're more intelligent than everyone else don't you?
You're a backward Norfolk hillbilly, nothing more.
