There's nothing to grasp, you don't like paying a licence fee and resent those whose salaries it contributes to.
If you don't want to pay it, just stop - you do have that choice.

How much does it work out per day? It's not bad value if truth be told.

The only BBC programme I watch regularly is Match Of The Day.
But it's worth it to see and hear Gary Lineker.

Ten bob you really are a joyless and miserable little man aren't you? I actually thought your pointless gag was good but it must have been a one off.

BBC4 and radio 3/4 justify the fee on their own. Should be free for the over 75's though.Natasha Whittam wrote:

Radio 3 and 4 are superb. I mean obviously there are programmes I dont like on 4 during the day, though I deal with that with Buddhism.

Never listened to Radio 3, maybe i should branch out. Listen to a lot of Radio 1, 2, 4 and 5 though - although the News Quiz has gone down hill since Miles Jupp left.
Obviously anything by Adam Curtis, Louis Theroux or Attenborough is a must watch, and the music documentaries on BBC4 tend to be very good - haven't seen Xmiles in a while but sure he'll have watched the Birth of Cool film on iplayer at the moment.
Worth every penny in my view.

Watched a very good documentary about Bernard Haitink on Saturday on BBC2. Probably the best thing on over the weekend.

Is anyone, barring a few blockheads, going to remember Gary Lineker or Zoe Ball with the same amusement or affection as Hylda Baker still is?
She made a decent enough living, buying a house on Manchester Road and joining Great Lever Golf Club where I seemed to be her caddy of choice. The half a crown a round she paid me was enough to get me into Burnden Park twice to see my heroes.
Ten bob was the most I ever earned from caddying but that was for carrying the bag of Dr Gracie for two rounds in the Bolton Championship. Big money. I remember it well.

I've always been a big fan of Hylda. Didn't have many friends in the business mind, and was intensely disliked.Ten Bobsworth wrote:Is anyone, barring a few blockheads, going to remember Gary Lineker or Zoe Ball with the same amusement or affection as Hylda Baker still is?

Jean Fergusson, who played Marina in Summer Wine, played her in an excellent one woman show, and produced a half decent book about her.

Zoe Ball’s ‘voluntary pay cut’ tells us so much about women in work
It has been reported that the DJ and presenter is ‘uncomfortable’ with the whopping pay rise she was given at the BBC
says the Daily Telegraph
What does it tell us 'about women in work' other than the fact that the Beeb is paying far too much for far too little to its chosen few, male or female?
