Good news on the Sponsor front. I have just got back from a meeting in Belfast, where I was kindly introduced by Mr Bells-Palsy to a new sponsor for Brother Dar. His sponsor for December is none other than former Weatherfield Wanderers goalkeeper, Seamus Poltroon.

After hanging up his boots, Seamus took over the FBI ( Fenian Brotherhood Institute ) on Shankhill Road , Belfast where he still remains to this day. Seamus has offered to sponsor Brother Dar for six tantalising reports on the proviso that they are submitted prior to the 20th December. ( he is off to Donegal on the 21st for a family holiday).

Hopefully these reports, plus his November contributions should coincide nicely with the opening of the January transfer window. I am hoping to arrange a meeting with manager Doug to let him have a look at the Dar's footage.

Brother Dar, Mr BP has queried your latest batch of reports ? He said he would sponsor you for four but you are going to submit eight?

Normally Mr BP would be only too happy to oblige but he has just been hit with a VAT import tax bill for a hundredweight crate of Lapsang Souchong which has taken his credit limit to the max.

If you like, I can ask Mr Poltroon if he can pay for the other four reports plus two further reports in December ?

REPORT 1.

i made my way back to the stadium to go on covering different competitions and footballing activities. as usuall i saw some boys playing and sat around to watch and observe. luckily for me today i found mutiu konijagbe who featured in one of my older reports, dressed in blue on the pitch, you can see how often he goes forward to threaten his opposition. Playing upfront as a striker, Mutiu shows his worth for his team mates whenever they go in an attacking act. I stayed around to witness his team defeat 4 different set of boys as he fires on on the wonderful Saturday.

I was early enough today to burst into a faceoff between two streets, it wasn’t part of the ongoing tournament, it was more of an organised friendly match. It took time before the two teams could get started for the game, and even after they started , they were sluggish on play. Later on the match changed tempo as it seems like some individuals in the team were just getting back there form. A guy I actually spoke with before the beginning of the match, Akin was part of the team, and to me was the main performer in the whole game. Arguably, he could be termed as a midfielder, but if I could burrow these words, Akin could swing both ways. Moving from back to the middle and then to the front without wasting too much time as he always come back to fill the void he left. However, his efforts was rewarded with a goal. Ccheck the guy wearing green with a yellow Top on

Report 3

After work I took my time to make a go at the stadium, try and get a look at em boys playing the 5,6 or 4 aside football at the stadium. It was not to my surprise that only few were available as its that time of the day when most people would have gone to work and would just be making their way back. On finding some playing, I sat down in a place safe and avoided not looking like a detective or policeman as I was not out of my work clothes. Its kinda unusual seeing peeps dressed officially at the stadium especially if one is visiting. This is because everyone is expected to be in a sport wear for one particular sport or the other. To my delight I was well entertained, I watched different set of boys play together until I saw Adigun in one of the teams. Playing at the back for his team, he intercepted many passes and was vital when it comes to stopping the opposition’s attack. Watch Adigun in a dark top and a white kaki as he stops an attacking opponent. I met with Adigun and discussed with him, asking him about when next I’ll be chanced to see him play again, he told me in the next weekend as his street has a match with another street. He also indicated he’ll surely welcome the chance of playing for an established club in England. But he told me to my face that he strongly doubts the fact that am a scout for Bolton as I wasn’t able to convince him with anything genuine.

Report 4

I went to the stadium the following Saturday to get a good look at my latest talent, On getting there, I found out the match already started, so I found myself a good spot where I can get to picture the whole show as it happened. Unfortunately for Adigun, maybe he ate too much breakfast or ate too little, he had few stuffs going right for him. His passes were not accurate enough, he looked to be giving away much of possession and also couldn’t make a decent run on the pitch. He was later substituted after playing like 70% of the day and however got his bad day extended to me as there were no extraordinary talent to pick again. I could go to approach him as he looked bitter with his performance and I felt it would be better to just free him for now. I am in no way giving up on hom yet as I want to believe all he had today was just a bad day. Adigun in a white shirt, orange top and a short with a white stripe.

Next time it might be better if you wore your official BWFC beret and one of your Wanderers shirts. This would give some authenticity to your actions. We don't want Adigun thinking you are part of a grooming gang.

Next time you see him try to stress the importance that a hearty breakfast plays in the lifestyle of professional athletes. Ready brek seems to be popular over here but failing that, Complan might give him the boost he needs.

The following Sunday evening I was back at the stadium to watch another streetwise competition. I stood where most people were and started observing the two teams as they waged attacking prowess at each other in a very entertaining manner. It took a while before I was able to note the wonderful display of Ayobami, who played for his team from the middle, I had to mingle with their fierce looking fans before I was able to squeeze out a name for him. He was said to be a drop out and takes football seriously whenever he’s at it. He’s part of the team with the yellow top, and he made so many passes that could have resulted into goals. The one problem I see with him is his anger and the number of fouls he could give in a match. He’s strong and has a good stamina and looks suitable for a defensive mid-fielder.

Back at the stadium on Wednesday evening, after been tipped about a match scheduled to hold between two streets. The match to my surprise started with entertainment as both teams were not playing the hurry hurry EPL football and played something similar to the Barca teams style. Moving the ball within themselves gently and making accurate passes. I found Anuoluwa, who played on the right wing for his team. He did well when it comes to charging forward and cuts back into the midfield to carry his team along. The match later ended 2-1 against Anu’s team, but he was an essential performer for his own team. Watch the guy in a shirt with a black top.

Excellent work Brother Dar, I have just got off the phone with Mr BP and he was so impressed with your handiwork that he is prepared to pay you for all six reports as a Xmas bonus. The Lapsang Souchong was found to be contaminated with rat shit so Mr BP has sent it back, marked ' unfit for human consumption', also Mr Poltroon has put the money aside for six December reports as long as you can get them submitted prior to the 21st December ( Winter Equinox ).

Mr Poltroon was assaulted last night at Belfast Town Hall and has had to be treated for a fractured Coccyx but he should be fit and well again in a fortnight or so. Our prayers are with him at this painful time.

Also, it may be worth your while to send your buddy Captain Wadda and his boys to have a nosey around the village of Aluu. The natives appear to be getting restless and a good beating should go some way in restoring the peace in that neck of the jungle.

Brother Dar, just a quick one. I have just got off the phone with Mr Poltroon. He informs me that he has just purchased a job lot of Union Jack Flags from the Haberdashery at Belfast Town Hall. He plans to make a killing by running a stall at the Christmas market in Donegal to sell them for a tidy profit and he will be unavailable for communication after the 20th December.

To top and tail it, my Cambodian carer/au pair, Ting Tong, wishes to go home to Phnom Penh for Christmas and has asked me to accompany her. She is very passionate about the CLA ( Cambodian Leprosy Association ) and has asked me if I will be prepared to meet with the founder, Father Abraham, and make a financial contribution in time for Christmas.

Being mindful of the big game coming up on Saturday against Peterborough, I have managed to book two flights with Jet2.com from Brize Norton direct to Phnom Penh, flying out in the morning and returning on Friday night in time for the Peterborough game.

Hopefully, you can get your latest batch of reports in before I return, otherwise you may have to wait until the New Year for payment from Mr Poltroon. ( That's if he is able to make it back in one piece)

Report 1

If u can remember Adigun from one of my recent reports, then you shouldn’t have a problem with this. One way or the other, i found my self tracing Adigun to his street side where he plays regular footie and once in a while visit the stadium. It was actually in a middle of an unsafe neighbourhood where u are not assured of taking your legs home when you play the street soccer as there are lots of dangerous tackles offered by individuals with a dead career in soccer. Since it wasn’t too far from my area, and then again, i had a friend going with me, who appeared to be ready to wave a locally made dessert eagle in case of any funny acts, i summoned enough courage to go watch the boys play.
On reaching there i found different set of boys jeering up to play footie, and would enter into d game as soon as a team is knocked out with a goal. It took a while before Adigun entered with his friends to play. However, i was not disappointed with his skills and movement, as he displayed exactly up to what i saw him do the first day i saw him play.
Adigun in a white top and black short, watch as he ensured no body goes past him.

Report 2

I was chanced to appear at the training sessions of a club team here in Lagos, They were scheduled to play the shooting stars of Ibadan the following weekend. It was however painful that the match wasntto be played in lagos but somewhere in Ibadan. I took my tyme to see the boys train and undergo some tough exercises. I was actually waiting for the team Manager to call them all together, split into two and then have a short match, so as to see who n who is actually good on the pitch. This never happened and i was forced to only take a far sighted focus clip, showing the Team doing there exercises. I would go there more often to see if one day, they’ll come to play again.
Video; https://youtu.be/Yt2c6WlIM-4

Report 3

At the stadium in a Saturday morning, i was quick to sit around some boys who were early to the pitch to claim a space and play their football. As different sets played with each other, it took a while before i came across Akintunji who played up front with his team mates. Even though, he couldn’t get himself a goal, he made a lot of foward movements that kept his opponents in a constant danger. His square playing pattern was also awesome, as he always makes sure he displaces at least a player at the back, then send to his team mates to finish up. To me, he would seem a good winger, but isn’t a bad suggestion for centre forward .
Video; https://youtu.be/qkj4U_zfaj0

Report 4

Sunday morning I was at the stadium to watch the boys play , as expected, there were many boys around. I sat as usual in a corner and was monitoring them, it took long before there came a set playing good football. Having previously seen Akin play before, i wasn’t so impressed at the particular time because he looked rusty with his touches. But, I saw another boy, tall, strong and a lot of strength in him. His name is Abejide, played more like a forward but not exactly a striker, so we could say he plays behind them. I did a little info seeking about Abejide, and I was told he was an indigene and doesn’t live too far away. That to me looks good as if he can keep up, he wouldn’t have any problem making a bold step into approaching him.

Video; https://youtu.be/DKnU6q5ruu4

Report 5

I found my way back to the national stadium the following day. To my surprise, the number of boys taking on themselves for Footie was a record low compared to all the other weekends have been coming around. There was a logical reason for this, all the boys were out of the town preparing for Christmas or say the end of the year. It seemed more like some were already on their journey to visit their far located families. The once around probably still had something doing in the town or are probably indigenes. After a while of searching for a correct set of boys to monitor, i came across some and sat quietly to watch them play on. From the first minute, the match appeared drab and i endured hoping the tempo would change when one of the present set is knocked out and replaced. Unfortunately, as it went on and on, the match never developed fluidity or the chemistry of an entertaining soccer game. After some time, i left feeling so aback.

Report 6

I decded to go back to the street games and watch the boys there as the number of the boys in the stadium was decreasing day by day. I was lucky to find enough boys playing at the local arena, and it was interesting and mind blowing. They played each other like it was a worldcup final. I found this boy named Ajisafe, known as ‘Aji’ by his friends in the hood . He scored 3 goals to ensure his team see off 3 different set of boys. He played from the middle and does so well when it comes to playing a 1- 2 pass. He was always there to test the goal post with his shots. Watch Ajishafe in a red top, playing to the left side of the screen. He scored a goal

Some decent stuff there Brother Dar. Report 2 was particularly interesting. It's obvious that the Greenkeeper in Lagos has more about him than the geezer stealing a living in Ibadan. I have always maintained that football was meant to be played on grass. Anything else just isn't cricket.

Clip number 2 could almost pass for the football pitch in Alexandra Park, Moss Side, with the running track around it.

It's all good stuff and it shows that you are dedicated to your craft. I have sent a text to Mr Poltroon and he has responded by asking me to wish you glad tidings over the festive period.

I will notify you as soon as payment is confirmed. Salam.
